I think your missing the point mate....They are a budget brand which is extortionately priced, whilst advertising huge power claims which they can't achieve....As such they can only be described as pretenders or wannabes....
The OP stated he required an amplifier to drive a single sub plus...
Sorry mate, it's actually pretty average for the money....Or rather they quote extortionate RRPs to make the gullible feel they are getting a cheap bargain.....
Reliability only becomes an issue if you drive it hard at near full power....If the amps are conservatively set then they will last...
Depends on materials required & time taken....
If your opting for a simple install where no enclosure building or other fabrication/trimming is required then budget for around £50 per hour....
With a budget of only £400 I would advise you tackle it yourself or invite a few members of here to...
Not enough info mate....
Budget is ????
Enclosure type & size ????
Coil configuration & impedance ????
Cars power supply ????
These subs notoriously like power....I'd be looking for around 2.5kw rms into your chosen subs overall final impedance....Not cheap....
You will require a decent...
Interesting reading mate....And so much shorter than my post lol....
Just one thing to add, (being as we seem to be explaining how the earth track blows)....
In my experience the main cause for any Head Units earth track to blow is incorrect wiring sequences closely followed by poor amplifier...
You must first locate the source of your interference by doing the above tests....
If it is indeed the earth track which has blown, then the earthing of the Pre-Outs to the Head Unit chassis will solve your issue....
With regards the introduction of a dedicated fused power supply; The stock...
Thats the one mate....
As stated, bare enough copper wire to wrap round each pre-out on the rear of the head unit, (use the RCA plugs to hold in place), then simply connect the other bare end to the head units chassis....simples....
With regards 'Pioneer' earth track issues....
The earth track in these units actually has, what is best described as, a type of fuse within the unit that during normal operation is absolutely fine....Problems arise when items are either added or removed in the incorrect order....This causes, or...
Not enough info supplied to allow for an accurate diagnosis....
A post copied from another thread I did regarding your issue....
Background noise/Alternator whine....
To sort this you need to actually locate the source of the noise....
Is the noise only present with the engine running...
Wow!!!! Some crap being spread about here lol....
A few pointers that aren't an attempt at diagnosing your 'possible' fault....
1, Later Sony units are simply awful with regards output quality....
2, Any positive EQ adjustment is likely to induce 'clip'....
3, Any speaker incorrectly mounted...
Interesting scenario....
£600 to spend & starting from scratch....
A few points to consider, (as yet not mentioned)....
1, No point fitting uprated audio unless your power supply is up to the job....
Most stock charge circuits will support approx 1kw rms without any issues, (thats normal...
Both items are usually readily available from e-bay....
The 9855r is a cracking Head Unit, (assuming you know how to use it)....
The owners manual is available for download from Alpines own site....
I did a more detailed quick fix for the earth track fault before, will go search for it now & post a link or paste the post here shortly.....
Pioneer earth track quick fix
Sounds like you may have damaged the Head Units earth tracks....
Will assume you haven't located the source of your interference yet, so here's a post from a thread I did on another forum....
Background noise/Alternator whine....
To sort this you need to actually locate the source of the...
Fully charged = 13.2v
fully depleted = 10.8v
50% charged = 12v
Battery consists of 6 cells, each individual cell is 2.2v when fully charged, 1.8v when fully depleted....
Temperature is merely one variable which can affect a batteries reading or charge state, in general a warmer battery will...
Are you serious ???
Each individual system has different requirements based on a multitude of variables, how can you expect someone to write an essay covering all variables just because you don't know what your doing....
The way forward is for you to include all relevant information on your...
When dealing with crossovers you need to firstly decide which unit your actually going to use for adjustment, then open or disable adjustment on all other items....
If your opting for Head Unit adjustment, then the amps crossovers, (if fitted), should be set to Flat, Off, or Full. Crossover...
Without knowing your musical preference or preferred enclosure type & space available for enclosure, a valid recommendation for any particular sub is pretty much a guess....
As posted previously the JL sub will cover most bases....
Wow, decide to have an evening with the Mrs & I miss a little debate I could have entered....
A few facts that hopefully will dispel tripe already posted....
You read the box didn't you!!!
Most amplifier output claims are based on 14.4v, this is the normal charging voltage from an...
I would go with a single unit which would simply push forwards onto the folded rear seat back when access to the spare is required....
If you keep all wiring to the rear you may well be able to do this without disconnecting anything....
First step--Build your main cabinet which will house...
Just a quick cautionary note....
If your using the stock Head Unit you may have damaged the front mids by playing the Head Unit above its point of 'clip'....This may be the fault even if your using an after market unit, but it's more likely if using the stock unit....
Lower notes require much...
The 'EDGE' brand is relatively new....I think that its an off shoot of 'Vibe' & 'Fli', as in another series from the same people....
If you can demo one before purchase & it meets your needs then I can't see an issue....BUT, your not going to be able to research long term reliability....
I...
