Martin's Track Clio 182 Project Thread

I've been on here for a good couple of years now, but have always been against the idea of starting a thread for my track toy, mainly because I couldn't be bothered. I've been slowly collating all of my photos though and they are now stored reasonably well. So I thought I would make a change...

    Scott's Super Clean PH1 172 Project Thread

That's not as much as I was expecting. Similar price to Willwood items. Any idea how they compare? But I guess the bell and rotas add up to a lot in part of a full kit.

How much are they lol

Another MCS. The track day toy.

There must be a fair bit of weight to be saved, do you have any idea how much? Quite lardy cars for a small hatch aren't they. Are you thinking all out strippage or just what you can but still keeping some luxury.

Is it the Monster 4 you are going for then? Those motorsport calipers do look amazing.

    Clio 182 Mapping where?

I'm looking forward to driving my mates FRS and trying to keep up with the boosted Clios lol. I don't mind a wet Bedford to be honest. It's fun skidding around without worry of a barrier. Wash your mouth our sir!

    Clio 182 Mapping where?

I agree mate. I was considering a trip down to Dan but it was just a little bit too much of a journey. If the car was reasonable to drive on the road then I would have done, but having to trailer it is a pain, my trailer is tucked up away and takes a good hour to get off the drive and sort...

    Clio 182 Mapping where?

What place mate? I guess it depends on the place. Some might charge a fixed rate, some might charge you for the time only if it's only a quick tweak.

Mars 034 goes for open heart surgery.

Did you do the clutch and slave then in the end yea?

My new racecar project (Icemans old shell)

Cheers man. Looks the same as mine. Which is a reassuring, was originally worried something with my setup wasn't quite right. I've run mine like this for about 6 months now and not had any problems... Are you happy with how it is on yours, will you be leaving as is now or changing it? If...

My new racecar project (Icemans old shell)

Would you mind posting a picture up of the rear top mounts once you've got those Powerflex rubbers on please. Reason I ask is because on mine, because the washer is so chunky, the damper thread doesn't reach the nyloc in the nut properly... So would be good to hear your thoughts.

    Finally got my Speedlines refurbished

Yes. They look bloody awesome though mate. Really is a great looking wheel.

    Finally got my Speedlines refurbished

They do look mint. Will you be using them on track? If so might be wise to file off the powdercoat on the hub mating surface.

    @Ant_Smiggy has some I think

15" team dynamics - central hole not big enough? help :(

Just get them bored out. Then you'll end up with a proper fitting set, without the need to use shitty plastic spigot rings. Most sets (not all) of TD1.2s need to run spigot rings, because the centre bor is drilled very bit for multiple fitments - with spigot rings.

Saturday 28th Feb 2015 - Bedford Season Opener Track Day

I'll bear that in mind. One of my friends might have a space going very cheap if they can't make it on the day. But would be last minute.

Right the time is fast approaching. Who's going then guys!?? I am, along with two mates in FRS' 1) Martin - Silver Clio 182 - plus 2 mates in MK2 FRS'

    Modified clio

The lights look awful. Proper chav tastic. But if that's what you want then I'm sure you could do them with some kind of film. Splitter looks a little odd but I'm sure it's not too bad.

    Clio 182 Mapping where?

Yeah it's not miles off. Was expecting to pay 300-400 anyway. The map on there currently is a map for my setup done by Mike. I think it may have even been copied across from his car which had 421s and ITBs too. He just tweaked it for mine. There was just not enough time to get the car on...

    Clio 182 Mapping where?

They don't actually do mapping though do they? I thought it was just a rolling road. But may be wrong. I think I'm sorted with Andy at Engine Dynamics now though anyway :) In chats with him now. I didn't know that so thanks for letting me know. My comment about them not being cheap was...

Thanks very much for the potential offer mate, but it's still just too far for me. A good 6 hour round trip.

Looking forward to their reply. Will probably call them in a day or so just in case they are busy and don't have time to check mails.

    Alignment Settings

You've got toe out on the NSF wheel and toe in on the OSF wheel. Doesn't surprise me that it could be pulling to the left a bit if anything but surprised it's that noticeable, could be something else. We're only talking 0.4mm in total which you are out though so nothing major. EDIT: Typo

    Clio 182 Mapping where?

I'm sure ED can help. I've sent an email over across already. Can't believe I forgot about these guys. Do you know if they have their own dyno on site now? I don't care about power figures, I'm thinking for ease of mapping top end. Not heard of Power Engineering though, so will have a...

    Clio 182 Mapping where?

Mike has already sorted this for me. It's top end stuff I need, as obviously he couldn't do this on the road without massively risking losing his license.

    Clio 182 Mapping where?

Dan would be great but he's too much of a trek. Chip doesn't have rollers, and dought he'd be interested in travelling or for private jobs from what I've seen. Going to speak to ED today and see what they say. Bit of a mission for me but not enough to put me off. Sweet

    Clio 182 Mapping where?

I could do. But I'm really keen to just get it done on the same day. I have such little time at the moment to be making 3-4 hour round trips. Ahhhh I forgot about these guys. Are they custom maps? I know their builds are meant to be top notch but not heard much about the mapping.
