He was in his element. He got angry when I kept trying to talk to him.
I managed to feed him a bacon sandwich this time round. And a bag of mini cheddars, he likes those.
He doesn't like drinking though 😂
Update
It's been a very busy past couple of weeks for me. When the weather has allowed, Alex has been down on three separate occasions to help me get the car back on the road. Yesterday we finally got the bulk of the work done and out of the way. There are only little bits left now so one...
That's not a plate, that's just sound deadening, to help stop vibration noise or similar. You'll find it in most Renaults all over the place (under the carpets, behind trims etc)
The rear of the boot floor and panel looks a little out of shape to me. But considering they bend and crumple so...
Great pictures those!! Such a good looking little hot hatch.
Can I ask you a question about the Aux belt on them?
Is it really replaced every 8 years (Every 4th service)? That's what Mini told me when I was enquiring about a friends Cooper. Also that the timing chain was done every 20 years...
Why don't you do this??
Doesn't need fancy pants high comp engine build.
Be great to see it back out there. Standard engine with bodies and it'll be out there in no time.
Unless you wan't the extra refinement a 197 offers over a 1*2, then i'd get a 182 Trophy, or a 172 cup for track.
Kelv went from a Trophy to a R27 and hated it. He was so disappointed that it sat there for months being unused until he sold it. He's building a Trophy back up now.
So doesn't...
172 Cup alternator brackets purchased from Ebay.
Brand new 172 Cup alternator sorted from Renault.
New genuine steering rack bushes sorted from Renault.
Gripper gearbox collected from @Porkie
EPAS wiring kit ordered from Ebay.
EPAS column sorted from a friend of @AlexW
Still need the mounting...
Oh HAIIII
Not much has happened with mine since, I collected the Gripper gearbox from Porkie on Sunday and I've sourced my EPAS parts. Just need to powder coat a few bits, get a box of bolts and nuts zinc coated, then it'll be ready to go back together.
Absolutely gutted for you mate :( I've followed this thread in such depth too!
Really can't imagine how you must be feeling, I felt upset reading it myself.
Bloody s**t french cars!
I don't know much about fueling etc so I'm struggling to understand how it's all happened.
Yeah just stick your head in and have a look, it's in a tight spot, but quite visible.
Check for obvious cracks and the condition of the belt. Also try and get your hand in there and check there is no slack in it.
It would be wise to check the documents on the car, to see how long ago it was...
I've got the old standard top mounts lying around somewhere, do they have a sleeve in you could make use of? I don't remember off hand.
LOVE the drawing!! lol
They only appear at about 3-4 inches on my PC. And I can't even click on them to make them bigger.
You're better off using flicker or Photobucket and hosting the photos rather than attaching them.
That would have been ideal, but annoying I've not long bought a brand new alternator! Seems a lot of money just to change a setup over form one to another.
Planning on running a looped rack on mine too :)
