Martin's Track Clio 182 Project Thread

Interesting thanks Tom. I was running 15" Toyo R1Rs. Tyre pressures are 28.5 currently. What does that mean? ☺️ The only graph I've got is the one I've posted up there. Andy did say he could re print anything out if I wanted though. It is mate. It's only temporary until I sort out a...

    ITB'd Road & Track Ph1 Titanium 172

s**t that's some nasty rust!! Great purchase though, that car looks like a bargain!! Interested to see how you swap parts about and what the end result is.

Is that not what it's called haha!?!? In the dashboard sounds a bit too vague... Thanks mate. Yes exactly! Could have been a lot worse.

    ITB'd Road & Track Ph1 Titanium 172

    Can't believe you've sold it :(
  5. Martin.

What gains would you expect here?

Yes they are. 428s are mild. 421s I think are the most wild you can go without changing pistons or anything else. 438s are the same cams as 421s, just with different timing on the exhaust cam, with the intention of making them idle better for road manners. Along those lines anyway.

    Smiggy's 182 Build.

Still flicking back and looking at your pictures :) No recent pictures of the rear top mount setup? Or did I miss it... Bet you're so so glad you've got a seat cover now too. Really need to sort myself out a pair of those harnesses!! In Red though obviously :) mwah x

What gains would you expect here?

Go for 438s. Wouldn't be worth the effort with 428s. (438s are the same cams as 421s, just timed differently for better road manners) A healthy engine with 438s and supporting mods should make around 190. Mine made 188. Another friend made 188 on a different set of rollers. Kyle made 191...

Martin's Track Clio 182 Project Thread

Yeah man  Had to shove the top dash back on at the weekend and bung all the loose air bag wires into the glove box temporarily. Ready to endure the 2.5 hour drive up there haha!!

Finished Mapping Update Right, so as you all know, the car has been at Engine Dynamics for the last few weeks. It was booked in to get the map finished off once and for all. However when Andy plugged in the ECU he found out that a pin lock had been put onto it and the previous map file wasn't...

    You still amaze me! Perfection!!

    Spring rates in race trim.

400lbs is quite soft for a race spring!! My springs are 456lb and 475lb, front and rear respectively. They were only 'track' spec. For a race spring I'd expect you'd want 500+. AST race spec springs are 627-687lbs.

    Engine Rebuild

    Engine Rebuild

Admittedly I did upgrade to Supertech valves at the same time though, which were £300 on top. But not necessary. Full removal, strip down, inspection, chemical clean and tidy up, then some mild head work and rebuilt with new valves, seats, bearings, gaskets, bolts, belt kits etc. Check my...

    Engine Rebuild

I had mine done all in for about £850 from memory. But the guy I used is no longer trading unfortunately.

    Nath's RB track car build

My Clio is very low and I don't think mine does which is surprising after reading this thread

    Front arb removal..

You might need to shave a couple of mm off the inside of the bush then if so. I did on mine because it was impossible to get back on with the extra mm thickness of the bar.
  20. Martin.

    Front arb removal..

Yes. Easy to take off. Hard work to force back on over the bushes. Make sure your axle stands are as high as they will go because you will need every bit of space you can get when fitting it back on over the gear linkage and for leverage on the bushes.

    Glacier White 182

Really does look awesome in white. The standard exhaust tips look very puny though! A cup spoiler and an upgraded exhaust would finish it off perfectly.

It's not the GT circuit apparently. Work hasn't been finished in time.

Cub's Flamer - Supercharged, Cage etc

I prefer behind the driver too. More interesting to watch the driver input over some boring empty bits of track I find. You can also zoom in on the go pro software to get less of the s**t the wide angle lense picks up. So you focus on the window and view more than backs of seats.

Martin's Track Clio 182 Project Thread

I was going to say I could bring to Bedford for you, but that's obviously no use if you need them now! They're flat 10mm black spacers, originally from K-Tec. I trial fitted them to my car and they fitted fine with the PMS stud kit. I think the kit takes up to 13mm spacers from memory. Are...

Martin's Track Clio 182 Project Thread

That's very decent if so mate. Did you not want the value any higher than that? I'd buy that car for £7k all day long if I was in the market for one!! I've still got some 10mm spacers by the way mate, you said you were after some before. I've not used them and only want back what I paid if...
