That sounds like the Thrust bearing, Done the same thing on my m8's Golf GTI, Had the bearing replaced now its all good... May help may not but thats what it sounds like Rossy182

Its a car at the end of the day lol I know what you mean though. My 182 is on 40k now and since i've had it ive had 1. New engine 20k - Cambelt snapped 2. suspension replaced due to knocking noise 3. top shock mounts replaced 4. New coil packs 5. New HT Leads 6. New Catalytic Converter...

Most F4R engines run slightly lumpy. My 182 has been like that since i bought it at 20,000 miles, Had a new engine at 24,000 miles (cambelt snapped) and the new engine is exactly the same.. i believe its very very common to be lumpy as theres lots of reports about it. have you checked to see...
