Hi.Do you need to remove the gear knob on a ph 2 clio to fit a replacement gear lever gaitor or will a new one slip over the kob and it is just tightened up with the cable tie? cheers. Will
Hi. Righto, I'll have a good old look through that thread. I really need to get more to grips with how clios go together. First one for me. I see youre in Wimbledon. I'm in Kingston, are there many other members round our way do you know?
cheers.Will
Hi. Just to confirm if it helps anyone else, I fitted an off side handbrake cable from KTEC. Fits perfectly. I realise that I probably should really have done both, so annoyingly, I will be sending off for the nearside.
haha, did you? I wouldnt notice. I've been working my way underneath doing all the bilt hamber waxing in the arches, etc. I also used the clear spray wax on the bottom six inches of the car and its picked up every bit of dust, etc going so its going to need a really good snow foam at some stage...
Hi. Were the 172 cup front calipers different/special in any way from other 1*2 front calipers? Or, to put it another way, which models have the same front brake calipers as the 172 cup? thnks.
I know that there are loads of threads about these but unfortunately I'm still confused as to which ones to get to fit my 172 Cup. If I read correctly, there's been loads of issues with ECP ones not fitting, so if you want to be on the safe side buy 182 cables as they are a bit longer- is that...
Hi. Can anyone kindly point me towards where I can buy a set (16) standard wheel nuts for the turinis on my 172 cup please. Am I correct that they are 12M x 1.5 and 25mm?
I can find them at 7 quid a pop but would prefer cheaper and yet not made of cheese...anyone bought any recently? I checked...
Hi. I'm going to do an arch by arch refurb and wax protect, etc on my cup. Calipers will need a repaint. Am I right in thinking that they were silver when new? many thanks.
I reckon I will. I've only just got the car and am working my way through servicing it as its been standing for a while. Once I'm happy that its all running well, I'll get going on the wheels.
Are you sure about all 172 cups having the 16s worldwide? I'm sure there was a guy on here from South America who said 172 cups were supplied with 15 inch Turinis over there? I guess maybe I did dream it:)
Hi, well several questions really:
1. I'm sure that I read on here somewhere that the 172 Cup was designed for 15" wheels but for some reason or other in the UK it came with 16". Did I dream this or is it true? If it is true, did the 15" wheel cars originally come with shorter springs too?

Many thanks. Just spoke to George at wolves. Nice fella. Although, he has worried me when he said "if its a 172 then we will definiately be speaking again"...mm...
Hi. I have just bought a 172 cup and I think my alternator is on the way out. (very hot and smells of burning). I will test it all out at the weekend, but as I will definitely need to get new bits and pieces, where is the best place to get them please? I see wolverhampton renault mentioned alot...
Yes!!! As a fellow old man/fist shaker I recognise the truth when I trip over it and then promptly forget where I put it. I always viewed driving as a skill that I wanted to improve to the extent I could. I've been on nearly 20 of Andy Walsh's car limits days over the years and loads of...
I suppose thats why I said "If you are used to it and can overcome the natural reaction to mash the brake pedal ..etc". I meant it in the sense that stopping in a shorter time without abs is achievable, not that one should disconnect an abs system, if your car is so equipped, in order to stop...
A hot little twingo might be just the thing for me. Given, 95% of my driving is bombing about in town and into London, something really small and nippy could be the best idea. I need to go and try all these things.
