Get it on the lift. The worse bits we've encountered on the two we've done is stubborn drop links. Off memory remove the one that connects to the damper body, then iirc there's a small one underneath (this one) then remove a few bolts that connect the hub
Then you need a f**k off pry bar...
Its a t**t, you DO NOT want to have a crack on your drive if you're not properly savvy with spanners. You need a lift at a minimum imo. We undid a few of the drop links, that then gives you enough room (just) to remove the struts. Pay someone to do it, trust me.
Yeah, stick with stock, what ever you do dont get a ktec stealth (if someone else mentions it) Nowhere near stock in noise levels.
Some links that may help...
have you tried revving it as posted above? it will clear the ticking for a short time as mentioned, that should confirm it. As said I've had two replaced, one in a 172 and one in a 182. Pretty straight forward to replace, arch liner out job possibly bumper.... It was circa 2005 lol
New charcoal cannister is no more than £50. Located in drivers wheel arch behind the bumper. The solenoids are always full of water when we've done mine!
