anyonre lowered there 197 or 200

Been reading on 197.net an some one had posted a guide, this involved lowered the subframe to remove the strut :S is this nessersary?

Its a t**t, you DO NOT want to have a crack on your drive if you're not properly savvy with spanners. You need a lift at a minimum imo. We undid a few of the drop links, that then gives you enough room (just) to remove the struts. Pay someone to do it, trust me.

oh i'm plenty savvy dude, bin in the trade since i left school. Time served nvq level 3 mechanic with volvo. Just asking really because i havent even looked under the car since i've had it lol

Get it on the lift. The worse bits we've encountered on the two we've done is stubborn drop links. Off memory remove the one that connects to the damper body, then iirc there's a small one underneath (this one) then remove a few bolts that connect the hub

Then you need a f**k off pry bar, and a mate ;)
