ive always been under the impression that it is from cold as this is when the oil is at its thickest (as it gets thinner when hot thus making it look like there is more in there) plus when your engine is cold most of the oil would have gone to the bottom of the engine so will give a truer...
ive had it a few times now where if i do quite a long journey. when i start the car up, the oil warning thing flashes and the serv light comes on so i check my oil when it is cooled and it is halfway between the 2 notches. then when i start it again, it says oil ok and the serv light goes out...
i love cleaning mine as it is more satisfieing when done. but annoying when you pop to the shops in it for it to look no different to before you did it. but you notice it more on dark cars because light colour absorb the light reflection to your eyes wereas dark colours reflect the light back...
i think alot of people strip their car out because it is the fashionable thing to do at the momment just like big fibreglass body kits were a few years ago. its also a way of getting more bhp per ton for free too. but like said it makes the car impractical to use every day. most of my mates...
what a s**t, at least you are all here to tell the tale and dont listern to the copper, he has probly just assumed that you were speeding because you are young and have a car full of mates. if you wernt doing anything wrong then nothing can happen to you as they will have no proof of anything...

beleve it or not but renault is the best place to get them from and the also do a set of budget pads for the back too. probly cost you about £100 more or less all in.
you can allways change back but selling them may be hard as no one really likes them anymore. even the chavs have gone off them.
