I am still fairly new to this forum but I have to agree that there is an anti-197 feeling here from anyone who has a 1*2. I don't think it is as evident for the 200. Renault have made the 197 for a different market (dare I say more mature!!!) than the 1*2 and having driven both a 182 and a 197...

Hopefully the picture of a Corsa VXR is here. You can tell that this is purely a cosmetic part of the bumper whereas the Clio diffuser goes about 3 feet under the car. BTW How do you include a full picture in the thread?

Agreed. The diffuser looks less effective on the 200 than the 197. I have to admit that 40KG seems alot, but I am still in the honeymoon period of having just bought the car:cool:

This has something to do with the price they can charge for the car. You can't have a flat underbody and a cheap car. The Ferrari will produce more downforce than the Clio. That doesn't mean that the Clio does not produce any.

I have read in articles that the rear diffuser on a 197 actually works (unlike the fashion statements that everyone else is putting on their cars :dapprove::dapprove:) and am curious if anyone has some facts on it. Just for the pub conversation of course:rasp:

What is the spec of the GT? What size engine does it have etc. I have seen one in white near me and it looks nice but does not have the flared arches etc of the 200.

From reading a lot of threads on this forum, it seems you either buy a faultless car that does 100,000 miles without a problem or you buy a dud. There is not much in the middle.

I bought Seb's car. A mint Nimbus Grey example. Just had 2 extra speakers fitted in the rear which really improves the sound but apart from that it is standard. Standard still includes loads of toys though :D I have got to take some pics.

I am another ricer who kissed a frog. Used to have a 2004 CTR in Cosmic Grey, now I have a 2006 Clio 197 in Nimbus Grey. Build quality is not as good as the Honda (but still much better than I expected) but the handling more than makes up for it.

The 197 has more torque that the CTR (about 10-15 extra IIRC) and it shows lower down the rev range. There is a noticable pull in the 197 at 3000 rpm that the CTR didn't have. VTEC kick is a great experience and the sound of the Honda engine is amazing so I was expecting to be a little...
