I'd say the D50 was the better model as you can use all lenses with it, eg the 50mm f1.8 prime, the D40/D40x can only use the AF-S lenses as they don't have a lens motor in the camera body.
There's a campsite behind the TT Grandstand, Nobles Park, but I'm not sure it's open during TT week. I've also stopped at the site at Cronkdhoo, near Greba Castle on the TT course which was fine (nice pub down the road too). There's a TT campsite near Braddan Bridge, just outside of Douglas...
I think the Canon is 400D now? It'll be 450D next week.
Nikon is D40x.
Best thing to do is to try them both out to see which feels best.
50mm prime lens is excellent, here's one I took last weekend on a portrait shoot with a friend of mine with the 50mm f1.8 lens.
also, Sigma 10-20...
I was about 1/4 mile up the road from that crash, I heard the engine screaming then bang crash silence :S
That Clio was for sale a few months ago, he wanted £95k for it
I was half considering entering it but my rally car needs some work on it before it's out again - it got a bit hammered on the last event I did. St Wilfs has it's own photographer I think so no point photographing it. I might be doing a portrait shoot next Saturday, if not I might head to Epynt...
Go out of Castletown past the airport to Derbyhaven, 90 right before you get to the little port, past some houses then 90 right/90 left into a golf course, follow that road down :)
If you're interested the other pics are at Point of Ayre and Sartfield hairpin (on the Brandywell cottage road).
Re: Cannon Warranty repairs
4 weeks is fairly short as repair times go, if there's any major sporting event on repairs can take months as Canon/Nikon send a lot of their technicians to the events for the "pro's". Doesn't say much for their confidence in their products in my opinion.
Find out...
Wow he's spent £45k on a Mk2..... doesn't make him the governing body of motorsport in the UK though, that's the MSA and their site says you need a licence for Nat B road rallies. As I've said already the only ones you can do without the licence are closed to club 12 cars and "invited club"...
the exposure of the pics looks ok but if you are taking shots with the headlights on the camera will think it's sunny hence the head on shot is underexposed, so use the camera in manual mode or use spot metering on the centre of the grille rather than the whole car in these cases.
