Hehehe I see its all going off again LoL ;)
172man - Ive done the exhaust/induction/ecu route as far as that can go, and very good for the money, but I want more grunt than it can give me. Eibach Pro-kit are bloody good springs and a very worth-while investment, as is good rubber (never skimp...
If you have a search around youll find piccies and a link to a wav & mp3 of my K-tec, it not the quietest of exhausts and hard accelleration from 3500 to 5000 is when its at its loudest...... ask some of the guys that were on the Euro trip what they think :)
Hiya Eddd, a big thanks for that Astra ride and you driving my 172, my god you really made it fly round the ring, even though I did bounce off the handle and roof at one point :o:D
Go for a wet system, for more info goto http://www.noswizard.comwww.noswizard.com and have a look round, loads of very good info in their bulletin board too.
Insurance-wise I aint got a clue, but when I was phoning around for the big nitrous addon and headwork Adrian Flux were the only one who would touch me for decent cash at all, so I guess Ill try them first, then ring around again.
Aldon said it would be around 2k +vat fitted, I would like to...
Well, if I remember correctly, BenR got about 215 on the one they setup, so Id be hoping for 210-220 if its a pukka job (Ill be taking it down to PowerEngineerings rollers to check out the figures once the work is done).
Lurvely sound and lurvely power increase tooooooo
Not cheap mind, but after alot of thinking and some late night chats with BenR its come out as the only way to go for me!
Jas - Youll see it at the bedford days, Im gonna do the 28th May and 27th June, so if it aint done for the first one, it...
Ok, well Im gonna do the deed guys, throttle bodies are gonna go on the ol motor after the Belgium trip and before the first RenaultSport trackday, Im talking to Aldon Automotive about this at the mo, but just in case, hass anyone got a recommendation of a place that maybe has done this job...
Rar Rar Rar :D
Ill be seeing you all down there then, and I think Ill be doing the 28th May and the 27th June (Ive been waiting all winter for trackdays again, so I need a double fix now :devilish:)
Erm, Im sure we went over this one sometime back, if im correct they are 38 on the fronts and 43 on the back, this gives them the wider track (20mm on the front and 10mm on the back) over the 172.
Hmmm for normal driving on my 172 I use 32/30, for fast road 34/32 and for track 36/34, seems to work very well for me, and when I changed the fronts a bit back the tyre wear was spot on, so no probs :)
I had a good go at testing launches on CarTest once Id got it setup as spot on ass I could, and after a load of trys dumping the clutch at about 2000rpm seems to do the best at getting you off the line (at least in my 172) and when I went out to test this for real it really done to the trick...
Cupsize? - I looked into this very seriously late on last year, and was on the edge of setting up the deal to get it fitted, but I did some good research and found the you really would have to go for the semi helical box to keep the noise down, which has virtually fixed ratios, and 1st is far...
Ok, so Im bowling along a road heading toward a set of lights on a main road, and Im turning right, Scooby up behind me, so Im thinking - gotta have a go, dont know what model it is (standard scoob blue, partial reg W5 S??), but its not standard and Ill get toasted, but what the hell :-)
So...
Simon, an alternative to this would be to get a freeer flowing cat (less dense), now whilst I was down at Power Engineering Merv said that they have a cat that they can adapt (prob onto any car) which is free flowing upto 380bhp output (scoob or evo it was tested on) so that would be a possible...
Yup, walk!
Buying a car is normally the second biggest deal anyone does in their lives, and it seems from their attitude that they are playin you, there are more 172s out thier, and Im sure you can find a great example somewhere else and youll be completely satisfied with the service they give...
We need to have a dyno day, where a team of trustworthy mechanics take our engines out and run them on a test bench, then we can get acurate flywheel figures LoL :p (Oh, and of course put them back in again, once Ive pinched the best one ;))
You cant acurately, but the best youll get is going on an RR that does run down, where once the car has reached peak revs its thrown into neutral and the rollers calulate the resistance of the running gear as everything slows down again, this figure can then be used to estimate your flywheel...
Well, youre correct in that they arent cheap, they seem to give alot more nice cold air into the engine (the top of the engine/inlet manifold is still really cold even after a good run), remapping was required to actually get WOT to be a correct air/fuel mixture across the rev range (as you...
Sorry paddy, I fooked up on the link for the mp3, and the wav seems to be problematic, dont know why, anyway heres the right link for the mp3.

Well, when I got my Eibach Pro Kit put on, the guys setup the tracking to be parallel, and after 10,000 miles I changed the front tyres, and my tyre guys said that the tyre wear couldnt have been better, so Id say go for setting it up parallel.
