This is a lovely car, Rhys, looked fantastic when you bought it and is getting better & better.
I can totally see where you're coming from on the wheels, and while I agree they look fresh in silver, for me they detract a little je ne sais quoi from the car.
I'm sure the folk on CS would PS...
That's fine with the fire engine because the letters are huge, and it's likely to be approaching you from behind.
The chances of reading the CS sticker once it's gone past you, given you're both doing 10mph, is minimal. Both you and the Clio doing 30mph and the chances are zero.
There must be...
There's every chance they took the picture then flipped it so everything appears backwards.
I've seen them do it in mainstream car ads to make the car appear LHD when it was RHD. They use pallendromic (sp?) number plates as well, or ones which read similar when flipped - 0X0 MVT, for example.
My advice would be to buy on condition and not mileage. Better to have a Trophy that's done 60k and been very well looked after, than one on 30k with dodgy Sachs and patchy history or the belts done by a random, for example.
Cheeky fúcker!
Do you want the meaningless book value, given that these engines seem to have such wide variances from the factory?
What budget do you have to play with?
Cheers Sam.
The Sachs were refurbed in April 2011 (10k miles ago) then I bought the car a couple of months later. Sportlines were on for nearly 18 months with no issues at all and obviously I've only had the Cooksport springs on for a few days but the dampers are still in fine fettle.
They'll...
With the Eibachs on it was no question a much better ride than your 200. With the Cooksports on I think it's still better but not by as much. Next time we're out I'll take you for a drive in it then let you have a go yourself so you can see first hand.
GFY!
Happily, no issues to report...
Last night I went out on some of the best roads in West Berkshire. My usual circuit is a 50 mile loop, which varies from some very fast, sweeping bends over the Ridgeway, to a section of really tight, technical stuff passing the Uffington White Horse, and a bit of everything inbetween. It's a...
Looks ok but without seeing more detail it's hard to say. The key things are the service history - have the belts been changed as & when they should have, and by either Renault, or an independent Renaultsport specialist? And are the dampers in good working condition, or have they ever been...
Thanks all for the positive comments, you're all much kinder than my OH - "Are your wheels supposed to look like that? Cos they look shít, you're such a chav!".
Sir, yes sir!
Discussions are ongoing...
I share your sentiment, Andy, I much prefer 16s too, and I was worried the 2118s would...
I'll post my thoughts tomorrow in your 15s thread. I'm really struggling for the words to describe everything so I'll sleep on it. Motoring journalist, I am not.
No he didn't. He said the previous owner took them off because they needed refurbishing, and sold them, using the money to help fund the Spax coilovers it was purchased on.
For £2k it's pretty unlikely. Gives the OP an opportunity to source and re-fit some, or try something a little different. Whichever route he chooses good luck to him!
A few more updates were added to #455 recently, courtesy of Mike Woodford @ S&MWM - thanks, as always.
A couple of months ago I picked up a new set of wheels and although it took me quite a few hours and a lot of effort to hand-polish off the printed blue logos I eventually succeeded. I also...
Here's a crappy iPhone pic of mine on the drive home from having Sportlines replaced with Cooksports, 20mm spacers fitted up front, and 2118s wearing AD08Rs fitted.
It'll need time to settle then I'll take it out on my favourite loop to judge the changes.
May look a bit low at the rear but...
