Doing such a short journey to work will probably only return that MPG figure. Especially if you reset the trip computer first, since it takes a few miles to start getting accurate and the car will use more fuel just after it's been cold started.
Leaving it to "warm up" won't help matters either...
I wish I had the time (or could be bothered) to keep my car that clean. Looks stunning. If you keep it like that and keep the service history up to date you'll probably end up getting a very good price for it when it comes to selling it.
In fact, I'd buy it myself and stick my engine in it! BEAST!
That's because what you're doing there is essentially setting up the "Internet Connection Sharing" PC as a router. The Windows Firewall and the Routing and Remote Access service both use a file called ipnat.sys, which means both services can't be running at the same time.
You should still be...
My car's been mapped to run on super (97 or above).
Without a doubt it feels much quicker when it's got V-power in it, but then it was mapped on that.
I get better miles and nearly the same performance with BP Ultimate as well, and because there's a BP carage at the top of the road the car...
OK. I've done a search but haven't really found enough opinions on this...
After the recent work done to my car, I've come to realise over the last couple of days that I'd be a complete tw@t not to do something about my standard brakes.
Now I read somewhere on the forum a while ago about the...
I found myself getting through a set of P Zero's about once every 3-4 months.
I'm boosted now though, so chances are it'll be once every 3-4 days.
Might give the Hankooks a try. Heard good things about them lately.
Upgrade to a set of Michelin PE2's, Pirelli P Zero Nero's or Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3's.
If you're doing a standing start in the wet, don't forget to give it less revs than you normally would. You have less grip in the wet so it takes less of the engine's power to spin the tyres. Once you get...
Get either Michelin PE2's or Pirelli P Zero Nero's.
I used to get PE2's all the time but started buying P Zero Nero's because they're cheaper and I really can't tell the difference between the two in the wet or dry.
Make sure they're properly inflated too. I think it's 33psi front and 30psi...
I'm sure we'll still see one or two cups getting pranged as usual. Probably not as many as last year though.
Like I said, I think it's the 197's turn this year.
Hopefully see a few Corsa VXR's shiny side up as well :D
I'm thinking we'll see an increase in 197's being wrote off this year since there's more of them around now.
TBH it's not down to the car whether it gets written off, it's normally the plonker behind the wheel not driving to the road conditions.
Touch wood it won't be me...
Brand new springs would settle over time and make the car sit lower, but I don't think they'd get softer. They might soften up a little from when you initially fit them but once they've settled I don't think they get softer. If anything I'd say the dampers would be responsible for making the...
Fair point, I suppose it would be possible like that and I can honestly say I didn't think of it that way. But the way gregor said it suggested that he might be 19 and 8 months old, which he wouldn't be on his 19th birthday.
Fair play for the guy doing that though. If I'd had enough money to...
Actually, you're missing the point. He said he insured a 172 on his 19th birthday with 2 years no claims. The only way he could have 2 years no claims on his 19th birthday is if he passed his test, got a car and got it insured on his 17th birthday, then went for 2 years without having an...
But you can't learn to drive until you're 17. So that implies you passed your test on your 17th birthday AND got a car and insured it the same day, otherwise you couldn't have 2 years no claims?
I always check my engine oil with the dipstick every week. Anyone who doesn't needs their head checking.
It's quite possibly the simplest and most effortless task required to look after a car. There's no excuse for not doing it.
Personally I'd leave it as is. Chances are if you don't sell it to a member off here you'll get a young spotty oik buying it off you instead. And he will just want something to go "brap brap" in, so he'll rag the tits off it until the belt snaps regardless of whether it's been done or not.
A...
If everyone used a Linux distro day in day out they'd complain that stuff was far too complicated to fix in Windows. The main reason most people find Windows easier is that they use it all the time. It all comes down to what you're used to.
