Not at all mate, I have no doubt you have to fix some shockers. Just you saying that you put some right messes back on the road and other people saying that CatD can be barely anything.
Just a cautionary comment, tis all. :)
Ah right, sorry mate.
EDIT: Just read your posts... the UCH isn't just the central locking unit. Different parts. What the garage actually charge you £300 for fixing? They should have diagnosed the fault before going ahead and replacing the part as, apparently, a faulty UCH will show up when...
From my experience the only con is the price.
Comfier, larger surface area, more rim protection and I personally think the fatter tyres look better too... :)
EDIT: Sorry, all referring to the 205's.
Good news, but I'd definitely get down there with your service book and get it stamped. If you can get a detailed print out then all the better.
I'm not sure why having 4 years of stamps means you do / don't have this one!?!
After a load of searching, Ebuyer seems to be the cheapest if you're looking to build a system. Certain components might be cheaper elsewhere, but then you'd have to take into account multiple shipping charges.
Or, join OC UK forums and post enough to get the free shipping benefit...
The UCH is the component that controls all the separate electrical parts in the car, like indicators, wipers, windows, locking... seems to be more and more common that these are failing as the cars get older.
You're looking at £300 for a replacement. Mine's getting done in a couple weeks. :(
My car's only got one key, although everything else is in order and I just haven't had the inclination or motivation to buy a second!
I don't really see the one key issue... people lose keys every day. At over £100 a pop to get a new one, I don't see the rush!
People who wouldn't touch a car...
Looks great mate, any chance of a close up pic of one of the wheels when there's a bit of sunlight / reflection? Want to see how much flake you get in bright silver... :)
Best bet is to use the search mate, there's literally hundreds of threads on exhausts for the 172's...
YozzaSport, KTec, Prospeed, GDI, Miltek, Magnex... the list goes on.
I'm going for a Prospeed next weekend.
Can't quite figure out how the jack slipped out of the hole though... the hole is only there as a guide so you know if the piece of metal is pushing through the hole then the support itself is in place.
The piece of metal through the hole offers no support, so if it's slipped out it's because...
Lol, after I'd posted I stopped and thought "hmm, but then mine is corroded and about to fall off...". Probably more rumbly than it's meant to be standard!
I don't think it makes a 'bad' sound - it's certainly noticable when pushing it - but nothing compared to the various aftermarket efforts around nowadays.
Still shouldn't do it though. Mine did it every time I started the car from 'cold', so I replace the battery and now it does it occasionally. I'm attributing this to UCH problems...
Mine's booked in for the 21st. If anyone else is booked in for then, let me know :)
The general consensus seems to be that Prospeed are very good and, if you live relatively near, the lifetime guarantee means that even if something's not quite right you can always go back. The amount of...
You've cursed mine, it's done it a few times this week... I've also had a new development in intermittent indicators! That's fun when trying to get into my road.
You turn the anti hijack off and on by holding the button down until you hear a beep.
As has been said, it's not only a mileage issue with the belts. Common comparison is to a rubber band... you could not touch it for a year, but it would still snap if it had perished in that time.
Walk away if they're playing games, they're offering a p/ex for your car and then telling you...
Well, I got as far as finding my car and it reckons that my 2003 registered 172 is a date 2 years after the manufacture of the model ceased... so I gave up.
The only part of the Ph1 interior that I prefer are the look of the seats. The layout of the dash, steering wheel, clocks, colour, etc are all better in the cup. IMO of course.
