If you have to gain weight then you want it somewhere thats going to be beneficial (not that weight is ever beneficial but you know what i mean!) and as Sam rightly says, putting some on the passenger side will help balance out you and the fuel which is predominantly over the drivers side.
The...
Not necessarily dead. The insurance company have to listen to you if it's close to being dead and you want it repaired.
We had an MG TF saved from the scrappy this week as the customer kicked up a stink. Now being repaired.
Standard calipers, Brembo HC discs with CL RC6 pads with fully braided lines throughout.
Now running with 172 Cup set up as well so sacked off the ABS.
Im assuming you are the Mark Webber in your driver pairing then? ;)....not that Im gracing Nick with Vettel status...:rasp:
To be honest we would have been foolish not to follow Nicks BROTHERs path of removing as much as we could from the front bumper.....its amazing how much weight can be...
Removed both of the plastic crash structures, the upright sections of lower 'bib' and other unwanted bits of plastic and then set about completely removing the fog light area.
Oh i've nothing against a bit of grinding Tony.....I've attacked our doors with one. I also took an airsaw and a Dremel to the front bumper last night (a la Nick) and it now weighs the thin end of fook all.
I stopped short of cutting holes out of the number plate area though....
Indeed. You should be able to see the two holes in the box sections. Tom is making up two L shaped mounts that will then bolt directly to the seat side mounts on either side.
The seating position is made to measure to our considerably lanky frames, hence why we've moved the seating position...
To prove how light it currently is, my brother (my build) and another of our painters, Kev (not exactly 'aerodynamic') both lifted the rear of the car up when we were pushing it onto the flatbed!
Note the lack of dents in the roof Chris...:rasp:
Im dead chuffed with the results. Turned around in under 4 working days as well.......it would have been painted Friday but we were short of that particular paint (two pack semi matt black).
We also removed a considerable amout of sound...
Stealthsport? Is that the 'company' that is 'run' by Louis Spence off of Pineapple Dance Studio? ;)
Failsport will of course get a mention on the car though. I'm sure we can find room for a sticker saying 'supplied by Failsport' on the underside of the subframe or inside the passenger door...:p
We haven't stated yet actually but all in good time.
It's a bit complicated but we basically have some backing from a 'silent' sponsor who wants to help out a mutual friend of mine and his who has started his own business buying and selling a particular car marque that's close to my heart so...
If it doesn't make the shakedown then so be it. As long as it's ready for next season I'm happy. Anyway I have an intensive test programme in mind for it over the next few months.
I want to get it out at Donny, Mallory, Snett and Brands.
As for colour schemes, as much as i love the fresian...
You know what, I prefer it this way if I'm honest. This way it feels like the car has a bit of me stamped on it.
All bu((s**t, banter and silliness aside the end result is all I care about. This car WILL be very fit for purpose and as long as I'm sat in it, on the grid in 12 months time then...
Painting is delayed until Tuesday :(
Believe it or not we don't have enough of the paint. As its going semi matt black and we don't actually keep that much of it (its not often you use 3 litres of it on one job).
Masking should be done by the end of today though. Annoying as it would have been...
Well after lots of prep the interior is nearly ready for paint.
It's amazing how many brackets and how much sound deadening are/is scattered over the interior.
Thanks to the help of a razor blade and DA wielding Budgie the inside of the roof was keyed up and the remaining tar residue removed...
I see you got my best angle ;)
After you guys left my resident painter/spot weld remover attacked all the remaining unwanted brackets in the 'boot' area.
Plan for tomorrow is to dispose of some missed sound deadening tar on the inner quarters, finish (hopefully) scotching up the front floor...
I bet you any money its a Lambda.
Everyone cries coilpack straight off the mark but its best to start at the simplest things first and then work upwards.
Blimey it looks like it really did chuck it down before we arrived.
Good write up Jay. I'd like to say i'll be up for Donny but its about a week before we are due to have the car finished........:o
