What exactly have you bought? Is it for the laptop? Is it PCMCIA card? If so, I think you're going to be dissapointed again.....

Current home machine is a G4 powerbook (1.5Ghz) - although I still use my G4 quicksilver (733 Mhz) tower quite a bit too - and that's freaking ancient!

Unless you have a specific need for a larger display then I'd say laptop every single time - even if it's just for the ability to move from room to room freely.

The only use for TLS on usenet is to possibly defeat traffic shapers. But if you're using an ISP who doesn't complain about you downloading 200GB+ a month then there is zero point in using TLS!

Omnipage is (from memory) a pretty decent piece of OCR software. Basically it'll scan and attempt to convert it into "normal text", you'll have to format it and check that there are no mis-conversions.

I'd try restoring the software first, if the touchscreen is working on the main menu then it sounds like something is fucked in software.

quick only initialises the file system tables. the others check every block on the disk. slow. I only ever do quick formats on PC's because I can't be arsed to wait.
