Have you thought about making a heatshield for it, just to be sure no hot airs getting in.
Could get the front partly resprayed where needed and the rest of the bodywork freshened up a bit without a whole respray.
My brother got his old R5 GTT done for about £300ish and looked mint. Not quite as good as a respray, but not quite as costly.

I know that set-up is best, but Im after a fairly loud but lightweight system. Hence the 6x9s instead of a sub.
Already got some MB Quart components running of an Alpine V12, and an Alpine H/U.
de-cat will make a fairly big difference considering the cost of it.
to improve performance further, take the K&N off, and put the original airbox back on.
Its been discussed before in depth, and the cost to get the engine in etc. outways selling it then buying a 172.
Plus you wouldnt have the suspension, brakes, bodykit.......
So Ive just ordered another sandwich plate with built in stat, as the other one has stuck open.
How hard are they to fit, and how long do you think it will take for a good mechanic to swap over? Will I have to drain the oil first to do it?
Just want an idea of the cost of labour, as I need...
I cant remember what causes the problem, but if I recall its a costly repair, hence not many people fixing it.
Someone will clarify this Im sure though.
