Ok thanks :) Not a chance, did all that as a teenager :o and I don't do 1/4 mile; its all about the corners.
I may leave it as it is and see how it goes, rather than fork out on the rebuild and circlip welding.
Thanks for the info.
I was going to get a cheaper one than the one listed and have it rebuilt. Can the circlip be welded? I'm sure I've heard of that being done.
Bearing in mind I'll only be running about 180bhp. Maybe 210 in the long run.
Maybe worth whipping the head off and checking the bores, doing new rings? Wouldn't be great fitting the cams and then having to do the rings later. Also worth doing the waterpump and depahser pulley I guess.
You could jump on the group buy to get the head ported and polished too! Then all the...
Are the bell housing patterns not shared across a few engines? The ratios are great :)
Correct, they have the same ratios but a 4.06 vs a 3.89 final drive. The one I've linked has the same gear ratios but a 4.21 final drive.
That's what I've been trying to find out. I think its speedo drive...
Pointless?! No :)
I find the ph1 box too long, although they seem spot on for running boost. And you can increase torque to the wheels in a few ways...engine tuning, gear ratios and a smaller rolling radius.
All I need to know is will it fit.
Not the later 6 speed ;)
Would there be any issues fitting this to a Clio Ph1 172?

Re: Ph1 172
Well a couple of months later I've decided to get a few pictures up.
The daily Focarse is black with silver wheels and the Clio is silver with black wheels!
First mod I did was some wind deflectors.
Gave it a quick wash and got some clear indicators and a set of pressed plates...
Going to get the tracking set after fitting the cup arms to my ph1.
How much toe works well? Still want decent turn in but keeping good straight line stability. I suppose parallel is the halfway point...
I'm lucky and the rollers aren't a problem. I'll email Henk as what I want to clear up is whether he will adjust the map once or if you send it back for fine tuning.
I need to email Henk and ask a couple of questions about it. From what I understand you do the same as you would taking it somewhere to be mapped anyway, but maybe spend less time on it so you don't get the absolute maximum out of it.
£312 and send your old cams to Piper, they send them back within 10 days or so.
As for how safe on a standard map I don't know. I'm going to see how it runs on 98ron remap.
I know Paul at RS tuning can supply and map these but to keep costs down on mapping, travel and as I already have an rs...
You could do Piper cams for an extra £320 whilst the engine is out for a bit more go. Or 197 cams if you can get them cheap. Both a bit less than Catcams and it would be rude not too
I've been there before a few times with decent engine builds....not going there again
If you want the head doing for a good price then look no further than the group buy I've got going. Get some better valves in there too at the same time. Then hand it back to A N Other to build the engine.
As for revs you're going to need better springs and rockers unless you stick with the...
Maybe worth giving Piper a call and say you had them fitted but removed them due to issues not having the shims and would they honour you with a shim kit?
I just bought a Kenwood BT42 for £80 from Halfords. Works great and does everything I need it to do. Even links with my phonebook so I don't have to call off my phone.
Got the usual pre-outs, aux in, USB etc. Etc.
Just for info for those interested.
What you get...2 x boxed and oiled reprofiled cams, instructions, data sheet, COSHH sheet (for the lubrication present), leaflets, shim kit.
The shim kit also comes with instructions and 16 x 12mm OD, 5mm ID, t=0.5mm shims.
