Look at the stickers on that BMW...tool.
At the last trackday I did at Anglesey there were four offs, a bellend in his first Westfield outing and three heros in BMWs. I love doing trackdays but the total disregard for others is a worry.
You can get a really good FRP for £6k. A really good Trophy for £5k.
So for 1k extra you could have better handling, less refurbs on the shocks, LSD, Alcon 4 pots etc.
Re: Ph1 172
Yeah the Fiesta was a bit of a head turner!
This was it at Oulton last year, its the 2nd one going past.
For some reason the links above showing the drop didn't work after I edited them due to moving them on Photobucket.
Bigger cams (exhaust cam is quite conservative), ITBs, headwork or boost. Same as any other engine!
You're looking at 185bhp with cams, headwork and ITBs. Also decent torque as the VVT is continuously variable.
I'd expect them to respond very well to a rotrex with a better exhaust cam only. I...
I've got a ph2 exhaust on my ph1, fits fine :)
I put it straight on as I assumed they were the same but it has got a sliding joint which I haven't adjusted
It'll receive a bit of trimming for the brake ducts so I might fiddle with it whan I do them. I might be able to heat it and shape it out of the way perhaps.
After fitting the cooksport springs, Cup wishbones and 205/50/15 tyres on my Ph1 I'm getting scrubbing on full lock.
I'm sure this is nothing new so I was wondering what others have done. Trimmed the arch liners or removed them?
The intercoolers on ebay are spot on. Around £50 for the smaller ones and about £65 for the next size up. They are the same ones you get from KTEC, ED, Jamsport etc. etc. but without the premium.
They work very, very well. Don't waste your money.
Re: Ph1 172
I'll take a couple of better photos of the car on its new suspension this weekend but you can see the arch gaps. Spot on IMO.
The springs are a credit to Josh at Cooksport. They ride really well and feel great. They are fitted along with Cup shocks and Cup wishbones so whether that...
Maybe try something a bit bigger with boost. Leon Cupra, Focus RS Mk1/ ST Mk2, Megane 225/R26.
The mini is pretty good tbf but budget in performance mods like cat cams, smaller pulley, better intercooler, exhaust etc. They go very well then!
I've seen various ducts for sale to fit my Ph1 foglights but it's proving difficult to find one that will fit the foglight holders perfectly.
Can anyone link me to some that are known to fit and they need to be black.
Ta :)
I know Valeo is OE. But as you have done I've used Borg and Beck previously and they've been spot on. Also I can get them much cheaper than Valeo. I may get one and open it up see how it is and then decide. Had issues with LUK in the past not being as good.
The Racing Puma was the last car out of Tickford, there are very few of the original 500 remaining. The box is very close ratio and even better if you get the LSD version. The brakes are superb, proper motorsport squeeling spec Alcons. The standard suspension is Sachs/Eibach. Alcantara Sparco...
On my previous Fords one of the best clutch kits was the Borg and Beck kit. You got the full 220mm clutch plate rather than brands like LUK and National which came in at 210mm and used to slip.
Has anyone fitted one on here to their Clio? I can get them at a good price so if its up to doing...
They're not bad in ITBs tbh but the blocks have Nikasil liners and they don't last for long at high revs. Decent engine until they start going through 15w50 like its using it for fuel. Duratec is very similar and a much better option.
