there 3 step polish system is pretty good, ive just tryed it instead of ag stuff and i prefer it tbh, cheaper too....
get yourself a couple of buckets
a noodle mit
megs terry towel
couple of applicator pads
couple of micro fibre cloths
megs gold...
if you hant machine polished a car before then i wouldnt recomend jumping in the deep end, get some wings from the scrap yard to practice on first.....
you can get some decent results from off the shelf stuff and build up the polish layers will help with swirls before you seal it.

spacers on track are fine just check the bolts every session.
they will put extra stress on wheel bearings but they arent expensive to replace if you go on track a fair bit....
system b spacers (start at 15mm per wheel) bolt to the hub with suplied bolts the use standar wheel bolts to bolt...

the best ones are system b hubcentric but they start at 15mm per wheel and start about £90 per pair which will be about the max for a 172 if its lowered or going to be lowered in the future.
