sounds like the car isn't recognising the keys for some reason. It's strange that one starts it but doesn't unlock it. May be two issues. Could be as simple as resyncing the keys with CLIP.
Re: My aircon removal (clioproject beginning)
nice workmanship mate. car's looking good to. Get those rear belts removed, no point having them if there is no one to stap in back there ;)
new head it is then. I'm not sure what you're closest specialist is, but give them a ring and see which is the cheapest option. For me, it's either, new head, refurbed, fitted and new belt kits, or just get a second hand lump and chuck it in.
How bad is the spark plug thread? can it be salvaged?
1)The block "should" be fine, but you'll only find out when you take the head off (unless you can scope the engine).
2)Head would have to come off to repair, but the block could stay in situ.
3)Refitting a new head, with new belt kits...
oh hai ;) Where you guys heading this year?
Dave, don't sell it mate, you've spent so much time, money and effort on this car, it would be a waste really. However, if you want to try and get a CS record for modding then selling up I think you might win that ;)
Presumably it's your inlet valves (exhaust are different iirc) that are fubard? I will have 8 spare in a few weeks if that's all you decide to go for. Funny you should mention the idles stipping itself. I've got a spare engine in my shed and exactly the same thing happened to that one. Overly...
It can, but due to the aggressive nature if them plus being clutched they wear out. I've heard that they are jerky too on road cars. We aren't knocking it mate, just a Saturday night discussion ;)
