Re: how much have u sunk into ure clio
+1, that was 4 years ago, she still hasn't fully forgiven me, although we still bought the house, i just had to borrow an extra 4k lmao
cool, well keep me posted, i'm hoping mine is back on the road in Feb, probably won't be until march though knowing my luck!
Where in Medway are you Kieran?
I'm in the process of making my own custom sports cat link pipe using a dead section of old 172 cat and a ramair sports cat to work with the 182 manifold and 172 back end...
Sounds odd, if its any use, the earth strap that failed on mine can be got to through the passengers front arch behind the flap in the arch liner, found it this morning after dropping my subframe
This is probably going to flop like soggy cardboard, but i'm just after confirmation mine wasn't the only POETS 172 nailed together!
my current list of faults in date order:
camshaft failure @ 40k miles - after 4 days of ownership - new engine in
earth strap snapping - 2 weeks after new engine...
Yea, with the help of a friend who owned his own independant garage at the time, drove from kent to newcastle to pick the replacement up, loaded it and turned round for the drive back, 10hour round trip that day, only stopped for fuel

check the earth straps on the block.
i had this, drove me bonkers, renualt raped me £200 to tow it to them and diagnose for the sake of a £15 foot long strip of 2awg cable!
it went on me on the move aswell, just cut like a total electrics failure, but with the ignition off everything worked...
new engine, then salvage whats left from the old one and ebay it.
I had a camshaft let go and that caused just over 2k in damages, 43k lump, box, hoses, ancillaries and wiring from rear ended 182, £600
managed to sell everything i had spare / salvageable and all in, including fitting and new...
looks like there's some truth in what he says then. They tend to keep a couple of spare boxes 'in stock' in case of problems so this probably wouldnt phase him.
Not as serious as the title sounds, but strange question.......
I was talking to a Ford Championship racer last week, (nothing overly special, only ST's) who swears blind on changing his gearbox oil for autobox oil. They run the standard Ford ST gearboxes, but he claims that Autobox oil is...
Just for anyone else having the same idea, i wrapped mine last night. A couple of 'common sense' things to point out.
1. Wear gloves, theres glass fibres in there, its itchy
2. Wear long sleeves, see above
3. Resist the urge to itch, it makes it worse
my arms are finally back to skin colour...
