Sounds like you've been very sensible and rational with the decision dude, I think changing the car to a more raw, experiential one will certainly make you enjoy driving it more than you have thus far.
And, as much as you had convinced yourself that the Clio had to go, I don't think the Glanza...
Lol, they certainly are mate, but reassuring so! All three doors close with a serious 'clunk' that makes you feel, and know, that you're somewhere secure.
I've only had the car since Monday but I really am enjoying it. The strange thing is that because it so much more comfy and easy to drive...
Funnily enough, the guy had the new plates fitted before he brought it down to me as it failed the MOT on the dodgy ones! Stroke of luck...
And, yeah, starting to get to a level of cleanliness that I like now. It was clean before, but not obsessively enough for my liking!
Following on from this thread: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?p=3760303#post3760303
I gave the new car a clean today, as the previous owner had certainly cared for it but knew not of the precious steps of automotive detailing that keep a car swirl free! Unfortunately, I've not...
Looks good dude, the only real pointer I'd say is perhaps look to build up layers of wax over the next few weeks. Claying strips all protection off, so one layer of Dodo will still mean the paint is relatively unprotected.
But, top job - you caught the bug yet!?!
Ouch.
Cleaned my new Golf for the first time today. It definitely needs a proper machine polish, but I now know the reason I was so set on a getting a black car - looks gorgeous!
And, interestingly, even working with clay and polish by hand, the 'solidity' and feel of the German paint is...
I'm a big fan of Megs Gold Class - not found anything as good yet.
Apparently Hyper Wash is very good too...
And don't worry about the paint restorer 'ripping' the paint off. I'm not sure how abrasive it is but it won't do too much damage! Even the most abrasive polishes can be used without...
I love this forum, full of annoying people and getting worse by the day... why come into a detailing thread if you don't want to read a story (albeit a short one) about detailing?
Unlucky dude, 'tis always the way that you put in a hard days work and then it rains on it! Still, at least it's...
I also think it's gotta go dude, no point throwing money at it if you don't like it in the first place.
Stick it on the 'trader - I didn't have a sniff on any of the sites I posted it on but sold it on the 'trader in a week. There's no rush, so try 2 weeks at the price you want and then maybe...
I think I prefer the 16" F1's mate, but I reckon a good lowering is needed to make either set look right.
Sell the 17's and use the cash to get some suspension :)
Trade in tends to be very poor on these now as they will more than likely just be shipped off to auction. But, it does avoid the hassle of having to sell and entertain various timewasters...
I was lucky in selling mine quite quickly!
Cheers dudes.
Sold for just under £3500 - a little low considering the overall condition I feel, but there were a couple small issues with the bodywork that'll costs around £200-250 or sort.
No exactly onwards and 'upwards', just a move across! I'm planning on getting a Mk4 Golf as it's more...
Sold the 172 today... knew I'd feel gutted but didn't realise quite how much! Doesn't help that it's been a manic weekend, the missus is away for a couple days, United lost and England were shite in the rugby... oh, and the car I was lining up to replace her was sold yesterday! :(
Right...
Nae, not quite. Got all the paperwork back now so I'll change the plates this week. I've got to go to Wales this weekend, so needed a car for that, so I'll see if they want to collect on Sunday.
Aye, give it a go. I'm not a PC'er so I don't want to impart bad advice, but if you start with a very light finishing polish and work upwards, I can't imagine you can go far wrong.... that's surely the whole point of the random orbital!
Cheers guys, good to know the old faithful's are still passable!
Where's the best place to bulk buy Duragloss or Hyper Wash?
Either of you got any pics of an Onyx finish on dark colours?
I've neglected the cleaning side of the car for a while now and, as this detailing game moves on so quickly, I was fancying some advice as to what products I should look to for each part of the process...
I'm currently in the Sonus shampoo and Autoglym SRP/EGP combo with P21 carnuba stage, but...
;) Thanks mate, shame it's going soon!
When I've been spotted I am always interested to hear what the person genuinely thought of the car "in real life"... being driven, a car will look different to standing still all freshly cleaned.
