I would start by going into safe mode (F8 on boot) and go from there, it will only load the basics it needs so you should be able to get things uninstalled from there.

Might sound a weird thought but try clearing the internet cache, that's the first thing I would try. I had a strange problem with pictures and clearing the cache worked.

It's a system folder, don't delete it or any files within it for a start ;) It might be set to open everytime you log on for some reason. Try Start -> Run -> type 'msconfig' -> 'Startup' tab on the right and see if it's got 'C:\Windows\System32' in any of the entries under command line...

Make sure you install all the updates from Microsoft Update otherwise your computer will be more prone to virus and things like this too.
