The TomTom SDK is crap & pointless. If you want to implement this, use use the NMEA stream coming from the GPS unit, if you know how to program it shouldn't take you more than a couple of hours to knock something up that "works".

Yes it would because on a 0-60 run it could result in an error of 2 seconds. While pootling along the GPS speedo will be more than accurate because you're looking at a snapshot of time. If you're talking of a 6 second run, that's a possible maximum 33% error! All commercial grade GPS...

On any given run your timing error could be up to 2 seconds long, not including the errors in the commercial grade gps unit that you own.

Try one on powerbook or macbook pro (macbooks might have it too). The two fingered scrolling is brilliant :) Everytime I use a PC laptop I sit there for ages wondering why it doesn't work!

No, not unless you've got a special GPS unit, which unless you've spent thousands of pounds, you won't have! Commercial GPS units output a fix once a second, survey grade output at least 5 per second. The ones used in the automotive industry for this very task output 20 *real non-interpolated*...
