They can invalidate your insurance as some companies will not insure a car with a decat iirc but I have no idea on the legality. If you were pulled over and had your emissions tested roadside i guess you'd get a fine and a producer to get it tested.

I might be alone in this, and I have a nano myself, but I can't help thinking that iPods are overrated. They look gorgeous, as with most Apple products. It's basically loading a new program onto your ECU. The part of the program that controls the fuelling etc is called a 'map'. Therfore changing the stock map on the standard ECU is know as a 'remap'.

Surely it can't get near the data rates? Or we'd all be doing it, wouldn't we??!!
