Cheers Ben m8 !
I have doubts about improving the 172 head too much.
its all a compromise on the 16v units between drivability at low rpm and top end grunt.
the cams are dual profile too.
I am in the process of measuring lift and duration on the 172 cams and also the turbo cams...
absolutely, yes.
the engine code for the 172 is F4R 736 (I think thats correct without checking)
It is a simple matter for them to order the correct unit.
seems like another case of a reno dealer not knowing their arse from their elbow.
Hope ya get sorted soon though m8 !
I would...
Barry.
can you post images of where you got to with the turbo conversion (you mentioned in another thread that you may do this).
It may help 16v owners decide on the feasibility.
also, what were your tech plans for the complete unit ?.
Joe
Must agree Ben..
not a cause for concern.
for the ancilliary belt managing to tangle with the cam belt you would need to remove the front engine covers..
they are talking bullsh*t.
Joe
Hi Craggy, Simon is correct.. dont overdo it though lol
They should be fine at 100 miles.. we used to bed pads in for the night rallies on the way to the event, sometimes only 10-25 miles.
If there is no improvement soon, take a pad out and look at the wear area (u will see where the pad...
correction to 1st post.. I meant use the 172 inlet cam with the turbo exhaust cam with its shorter duration.. not longer
this should help reduce spool up time without affecting the power. due to forced induction.

Hiya dood.
I see no reason why it would not be straight forward (in the context of engine swaps)
keep your gearbox (no probs), fit the unit, make an exhaust downpipe, make all interconnecting pipes and source and fit an intercooler.
use an aftermarket engine management system and have...
hi all.
been looking at pistons for the turbo unit.
the standard turbo pistons are 9.5:1 compression ratio
it would appear that the standard head volume and piston bowl area at 9.5:1 = about
53.71 cc
on a 172 at 11:1 it is about
44.84
so, apx 9 cc is in the piston bowl...
why do you want to lower it ??
It can seriously bugger up the handling if you go too far.
if you are doing it for looks only.. whatevery ya want..
if doing it to improve handling.. then you should speak to Nick Hill.
Hi Gaz,
Bought in May this year.
£10,999
including on the road costs (plates, reg, valet etc.. 11,250.
they did charge me 500 for year 2 n 3 warranty originally, but this is not required as your car will have a full 3 years warranty from reno.
age 45. = cheapo insurance..

Hi Guys, Sorry for the dealy, I had to go to MK of all places for an EDS Meeting.. ...
Re the dump vavle, the plan is to have the throttlebody downstream of the boost as opposed to upstream.
SO, yes, it will need one..
as for type.. one that works ! lol..
will look at some specs n...

put any in that meets or betters the manufacturers recomendations.. unless.. you are going to do silly things to the internals of the infernal combustion engine...
