forgot to add.. the jump lead / connector cables should also be stored under the bumper or rear of the car in a protective cover... you cant get into the boot if the batterys flat n the CL is buggered etc..
Joe..
woh.... bad news dood.. really sorry m8 !
if you get the lock handles removed, ask them to lead the holes then fill... you wont have rust problems later for a few quid more !.
then use the key fob presuming central locking..
a good trick is to place a rally or race type battery hook up...
ok.. the app22, given weight, cd, rr etc can calculate bhp from torque yep ??
so.. what we do is this..
If you know - or have - the torque curve (Rolling road result (graph)).. and.. you know the Cd, frontal area, and weight, can estimate drvetrain loss.. then..
you could calculate...
for anyone interested...
a Captn S. pad 101 lol
the theory says that the rally pad should, even if it becomes glazed, be skimmed by the grooves..
the pad wont give of heat (or as much heat) once glazed, so the groves are actually breaking the surface glaze down (as the pad is pressed...
hi guys..
ok.. sit a 13.6 stone bod in the passenger seat and let rip in your 172..
the cup can accelerate the SAME with 2 people, as a standard 172 with only one.!
that, my friends, is the difference.. load up yer 172 with yer pal n record the difference in times (80-110) fourth gear -...
Brun, as you know, my car 172 has already been on REs rollers.. but, if you are finding a few drop out - as usual.. let me know.. I will do a run to keep the numbers up.
no probs
Joe
it is tight Pete my knuckles still bear the scars !.. but it does come off... if you are doing it at home, take the full cover off (4 torx) and take a look, its quite sexy under there
the screwdriver handle in the spare wheel toolkit is not easy to find.. it is pushed vertically into a...
hmmmmmm, not good m8 !
I think you may struggle with the 1.2 with mods.. I just bought my girlfriend an R reg 1.2 paris with 42k on the clock, and, full dealer service history
£2800
the offer of 3600 might actually be good. The reason for the differenc eis that he has to resell it, add...
LOL,
Hi Petes..
look to the left side of the plastic cover.. there is a flap located there.. it is tight to remove.. but it clips off.
(Watch for skinning your knuckles though !)
the oil filler is under there.
As for the torx.. look in the spare wheel bay, there is a screwdriver...

absolutely, yes.
the engine code for the 172 is F4R 736 (I think thats correct without checking)
It is a simple matter for them to order the correct unit.
seems like another case of a reno dealer not knowing their arse from their elbow.
Hope ya get sorted soon though m8 !
I would...
Barry.
can you post images of where you got to with the turbo conversion (you mentioned in another thread that you may do this).
It may help 16v owners decide on the feasibility.
also, what were your tech plans for the complete unit ?.
Joe
Must agree Ben..
not a cause for concern.
for the ancilliary belt managing to tangle with the cam belt you would need to remove the front engine covers..
they are talking bullsh*t.
Joe
Hi Craggy, Simon is correct.. dont overdo it though lol
They should be fine at 100 miles.. we used to bed pads in for the night rallies on the way to the event, sometimes only 10-25 miles.
If there is no improvement soon, take a pad out and look at the wear area (u will see where the pad...
correction to 1st post.. I meant use the 172 inlet cam with the turbo exhaust cam with its shorter duration.. not longer
this should help reduce spool up time without affecting the power. due to forced induction.
