I still contest that the clio is the absolute best car of its price range. It's practical, frugal on petrol, goes well and so on. Yeah, the reliability's terrible and the interior is a bit crap but nobody cares because it's a £1500 car.

I'm not sure whether the headlights are one of them but there's a load in the passenger footwell on the underside of the dash - they're known for getting kicked and bashed around, check they're all seated properly.
Are the revs rising above idle when it's in gear? For the speedo to not be registering then it sounds as if it's slow enough to be on idle, in which case LOLs will be had.
