LOL Ben..
From my understanding of the ecu..
A Generic chip CANNOT be offered even if desired
The 172 ecu is directly linked to the transponder for the ignition key.
The code for all this is in the ecu eprom. Either the chip must be copied first and then code altered and...
Hi Trev, sorry about the timing on the kits ..
There may be one more in about a month, but dont hold your breath.. If I get it I will let you know.
as for the wheels, its a difficult one.
as you say, the lack of gearchange is worth something, better traction may be more to do with...
Hi Guys, just as a point of interest Ben m8.
the closed loop is not in operation at WOT.. it has a simple table in the ECU.
All Lama look up is ignored at that point.
so it could run very lean at WOT.
Joe.
in other areas the closed loop will compensate to a certain degree.

Hi Ben, I dont think it is vvt, but am still looking into that one.
I think VVT is the best term (Varible valve timimg)
In this contect it would refer to the cycle timimg.. the duration has to stay the same.
but, as you rightly say.. VCT would be as accurate
Joe..
Hi M8 !
BMEP (Brake mean effective pressure) is related to rpm and hp (for one version of the formula that I use - this is output in PSI)
formula
BMEP=(hp * 13000) / (Capacity in litres * RPM)
es, it is therefore related.. and a good measure of engine efficiency.
it is definitely...

heres the first plot (All calculated from torque curve)
after refinement this spreadsheet will form the basis of the turbo mods and also will be used to estimate BHP and TORQUE with varying boost.
if you look at the right of the graph you should be able to decide WHEN to change gear for...
oh, sorry 2live, I forgot to add.. this is NOT my theory.. its based on fact.
to improve the times ON THE SAME CAR you need to increase bhp by the factors in the first post (Percent variation) or decrease weight..
the gearing of the williams is more favourable on the 1/4 mile.
you...
give me the times you actually acheived to 1/10 th of a second, and the weights of the cars.
your power figures seem WAY out.
150 flywheel = about 114 @ wheels
140 flywheel= about 106.4 @ wheels
122@wheels= 160 @fly (I really would be very surprised if your vavler had anywhere near...

oh, BTW... the reason the big lump is in 2 parts on a std 172.. is simply so you can remove the plenum chamber unit from the lower inlet manifold to change the spark plugs..
Joe
lol..
Hi Chun..
yes.. its all removed
then the manifold bolts to the head, the inlet is at the gearbox area with the MAP sensor in the middle of the manifold.
