    Cold Air Feeds - 172 ph2

putting bends in a CAF reduces air flow, as will corrigated tubing, will need to be completely smooth on the inside to eraly benefit. so connecting it straight onto the filter will possibly reduce power, as mine did with the CAF from foglight straight onto my V6 airbox. better off directing the...

    Cold Air Feeds - 172 ph2

Search through the posts on how people have fed it up from the lower grille or foglight up towards the battery/ headlight area. IMO you're probably better off making some sort of heat shield from the engine first.

    powerboost valves!

made a difference on older engines but not really worth it with a newer engine. Gave a decent increase on the vauxhall C20XE/LET lumps and a friends valver.

    Piper exhaust on a 182...Reviews?

Re-viving an old thread again. Is the CAT join reduced to fit standard or is it full 2.5" so will require the cat join cutting off and enlarging to a straight through pipe? It's a little hard to tell from the pics I've seen

    Replacing standard speakers

I've fitted the pioneer OE replacement speakers in the front and so fair I'm pleased with them, the OE head unit seems ok for them also. Interested in these Alpine head units also......

    Dash removal to install tweeters

You can just about force the OE tweeters out without removing the dash top, I did it a month ago. Twist off the grilles and pop them out of there holders, then I used a couple of narrow screwdrivers to prise them into position and out through the top.

    reasonable wash routine

My method of detail is 2BM, clay, de tar, rinse, dry, SRP, EGP, and either AG HD wax or colli 476s depending on whether were heading into summer or winter. As you say SRP is a filler so probably don't need to use this as it doesn't hide any marks for more than a few weeks (although the car...

    reasonable wash routine

So would I use Lime Prime instead of both SRP and EGP? My cars never had any paint correction, and I admit there are the odd swirls here and there, but I've only ever detailed by hand as would not want to risk it myself using a DA and damaging the LY.

    reasonable wash routine

What is the Lime Prime and other cleansers all about??? I'm still using the SRP and EGP to seal then waxing to protect when detailing, with interval washes occasionally laying on another coat of wax. where would I use it as I've considered the auto glym cleanser kit

How long will you be keeping your Clio?

I've had the LY 182 from new for almost 5 years. Never thought how long I'd be keeping it for, but TBH there is nothing out there at the moment that I'd consider changing it for other than an R26 but simply can't afford it. So for now I'm planning on keeping it till it eventually dies, or the...

    How To Remove Compbrake Topmounts?

The central nut holds the top mount onto the strut and keeps the spring in place. It is NOTHING to do with removing the strut from the car. This is the big lock ring round the outside that you need the C spanner for. Some people thought it wise to use locktite on the threads so this may be the...

    How To Remove Compbrake Topmounts?

take off wheel unbolt strut from hub remove the large lock ring with the c spanner from the top mount remove strut from car fit spring clamps remove central 1" dia nut (air gun probably needed, did for mine) remove top mount remove spacers you'll then be left with the strut, spring and spring...

Bugs - but not the usual type of thread.

it is to do with the car being a bright colour, but once it starts to get the smell of wax etc they seem to be attracted to it less than when it's freshly washed is what I was trying to say.

What to do?! Meg 250 or mod the 200

I'd considor a collectors car as something to be pampered and kept in a garage and never used in bad weather. Fitting a roll cage, semi slicks etc etc would lean more towards pure enthusiasts wanting a track weapon IMO. As for the OP, if money is that comfy at the moment trade in for a 250...

Bugs - but not the usual type of thread.

I have the same problem, being LY they swarm it in the nice weather. I just blow them off before wiping or applying anything over it. Once you start to get something on there they generally are attracted to it less. Must be the smells of the polish/ wax's

    Advice

I wash, clay, tar remover, SRP, EGP, then wax with HD wax 2 - 3 times a year. wash regularly, detailing spray, maybe another coat of wax couple of times a month. Check the guide to detailing thread in the sticky'd section.

    Advice

SRP is a polish, supposedly it lightly fills any swirls but offers no protection. after SRP it's best to use the auto glym extra gloss protection to seal the paint and then use a wax such as the dodo juice or auto glym HD wax to protect the finish. once that's done regular plain washing and...
