as the name suggest, it's to control the air flow into the airbox to reduce noise. No other reason and will help reduce air flow towards the airbox so in theory it's extra weight that you can do without
won't make any difference if it's removed or not.
Noise and polution emmissions are a huge part of the european standards, take off one of the standard CAF and the noise increase is quite dramatic. Any increase in extra combustion air increases outputs.
To the OP, running the CAF directly into the filter box will help to keep a cold air supply, but the bends and ridges in the ducting will restrict airflow, hence why peeople change the induction elbow for a nice smooth Samco or JMS bend
I ran a V6 box with CAF direct from the foglight straight...
'Clio' pinned badge came off nice and easy with gentle pressure equally to the 2 pins
Is the 250 megane badge different to the 197/200 badge? ive not seen it
Don't polish or use anything abrasive on relatively new paint. just seal it a sealant and wax to add a bit of protection to it.
Out of curiousity, why do you need to polish and correct it if it's just been painted?
I know the Clio badge has the 2 pins, is the RS badge the same or is it just stuck on.
Want to remove it so I can clean off all the rubbish between and behind it.
Don't be tight when it comes to spraying LY.
mirror caps admittedly aren't an issue really but I'd only want the best as I spent out the extra for LY buying it brand new and would want it to still be worth every penny.
my 182 is standard and will do this the first couple of times I let it rev. this is after driving for over 30minutes. Does it a couple of times then eventually it will give me full revs so just put it down to the self adjusting ECU adapting to how you're driving.
Had similar problems when I fitted a C20XE lump into an Nova, spent ages trying to fix it and it turned out the earthing strap bolt wasn't done up properly
he mentioned the bonnet a while back now and keep meaning to pick it up.
I'm really slack when it comes to attending meets, last one I went to was last year at the RR day in Ipswich. plenty of them are reguarly organised and generally a good bunch that attend.
How long you been at Darlingtons????? did you drive a white Mk5 fiesta with black wheels, spacers on the bonnet hinges?
If you've worked there more than a year you should have seen my car in the workshop every now and then. One of the mechanics on the Renault side comes from Braintree ;)
Acoustic valve can be removed as long as you seal off the vacumm pipe. won't gain anything other than slight weight saving.
As for CAF, space is a real problem and I personally lost power on the RR by having a CAF from foglight direct into the airbox. IMO have a CAF down into the inner arch so...
I'm currently using the AG HD wax that beads lovely and is really easy to use, unsure on durability though. just thought these might be worth a look.
So no real difference with the soft and hard wax ranges then?
Whats the difference? Is it the length of time for durability? if so I wouldn't of thought the soft waxes would sell that well.
I'm looking at getting a tester pot of orange crush or bananna armour to se if it's worth the extra ££ for my LY 182
Didn't renault themselves make a copy of the F1's and sold them as an option? have seen many on non sports etc.
They also did the same with the 16v speedline turbines and the williams wheels.
Fred and Danny, I've got another set of RS stamped inlets that I was planning on having matched, looking at the gasket marks I'd think theres a lot of material to be removed. Do they match them to the gasket?
And if there is any kind of gain surely it is worth doing?
