I'm not planning to at the moment. I'll take one out for a spin and see what it's like, but I already know it won't be as focused as the Trophy, though it will most likely be a better all round car.
To be honest it looks a lot to me, but then they all seem to be starting them very high at the moment. Not many for sale so they can try their luck I suppose.
If I was the sales bloke I'd knock a load off if you walked into my showroom.
I swapped from an 03 plate 172 to a new 182 with Cup packs and found the 182 did handle noticeably better. It certainly cornered flatter, and the extra rubber helped it maintain a higher speed in the corner.
Properly setup coilovers on a 172 would handle better than a 182, as they are...
I also had an alarm on my import 172, but it wasn't the same as the one they fit at the import centre.
It's not just normal etching though, it's placed on the Vehicle Security Register.
It'll have to be something special to top the Trophy as far as I'm concerned. As long as I'm able to do so, I'll be keeping the Trophy, eventually I'll get another car for daily use.
Knowing just how much the panels cost on a V6, it's likely the damage was fairly minor, but the cost of repair would have been massive, which could have been why the insurance company wrote it off.
On the other hand it could be a death trap. lol
That has nothing to do with it, they were fitted at the factory up to around March 2003 in all of them, then it was removed.
It's the etching, locking wheels nuts and the alarm that give it away most obviously. You get a certificate of fitment from the import centre showing it had the alarm...
Have a look on the MS Exchange website, they have loads of useful monitoring stuff for Exchange 2003 seeing as it's not so easy to see what's going on behind the scenes.

Not really, the ad was wrong as they placed it before the car arrived. It's actually 009, still a nice number if anyone fancies it.
The sales guy was a nice bloke, he reckons he has as much fun in his wifes Trophy as he does in the TVRs and...
Don't know about good with it, I've run 5.5 for a long time, and have been running 2003 now for a few months.
Ask away and I'll see if either of us here can help. You have to remember that we use the "fly by the seat of your pants" method of server Admin.
They forgot them on mine and Bubbles cars too.
No idea what the part number is, but they are just stickers. When I pointed out they were missing they had no trouble getting them.
I had the same happen to me the other week, I was making my way up a steep snow covered hill when some t**t wouldn't shut his passenger door so I had to stop. After I'd finished threatening to kill him I tried to get going again, at first using the usual method, which wasn't going well. Then...
As far as I know, as Renult UK have said, the warranty on the car starts once it's sold in it's country of origin. My import 172 had already had 2 months used as the car was sold abroad in December, then registered in the UK in March. It sounds like a similar situation with yours.
I've used the titanium wax on mine in the past. The results were amazing, but as r-jay has said, you can achieve the same, if not better for a lot less.
