Funny you should mention the Hondas mate. I felt exactly the same. I thought the CTR would be the natural successor to the GTi-6 in my mind, but when I drove it I felt it was too clinical in its execution, fast and capable but didnt make me grin (and my misses hated it). The 172 pushed all the...
Mervin, you are commenting on things you know nothing about. How do you know the 172 didnt have as many problems when it was launched? Did you own one? You werent a member on here so didnt read about it. In fact I dont think CS was around in its current form then.
I had a 172 and it had...
I didnt have any major issues with my 172 and have yet to have any with my 182 and its had a hard start to its life what with Spa and the Nurburgring. They have both had there share of niggly problems but they are easily sorted under warranty.
I know how good the 306 is as I had a GTi-6...
So you had a particularly bad experience and now you are very bitter about it. Understandable.
Neither my 172 or 182 have ever been off the road for any faults. My old Rover 200Vi (6 months old) was in the shop for weeks at a time with an oil leak they couldnt find.
It doesnt matter...
Get back in there and make them refit the exhaust for you. When I collected mine it was pointing as far right as the bumper cutouts would allow. They put it back in the ramps and fitted it correctly. They can do it, they obviously couldnt be arsed to do so.
And I cant possibly see how a...
Civic Type R owners have their fair share of issues, but Honda keep that quiet.
I will say my old mans 96 P Celica 1.8ST has been faultless since the day he had it!!
Come to think of it, its beyond me why anyone would want to spend the same amount they spent on the actual car just keeping it on the road each year. Some might say enthusiast, others might say idiot.
Personally I dont care as long as the owner is happy with what they chose to do. Who are...
You cant get a better new car for the money that does/did what the 172/Cup/182 do.
And I think weve covered that its not just Renaults. The thing with Clios is Renault shift a hell of a lot of the things, so there are always going to be what looks like a large amount that have problems...
Both mine had loads of work done on them, but were never once off the road and unusable.
The dealers make like very hard for owners.
Good job the car is so f*****g good for the money really.

I might actually have to wash mine before I go out on thursday night just so the muppets at the garage dont when it goes in for service on friday.
They washed mine last week. When I got home I did it in the dark to make sure they hadnt...
I reckon theyll scratch the bumper and just leave the alarm fault.
I assume they have already ordered the exhaust section in, otherwise that wont get done either.

Faz does it fix the knock-knock-knock when starting the engine?
It did on mine, as well as when lifting at low speeds and turning the engine off.
Mine has been back 4 or 5 times already but the dealer has always done there best to try and fix the problems and eventualy did!!
The fact that they are not even willing to try is very poor. As a few others have posted, if its that bad and they wont fix it then demand a new replacement at no...

Yeah, he posted it a while ago and it was...

They probably just arent enabled.
Matts are part of the spec, they come from the factory.
My 172 was a Dutch Import and was the...

If youve never seen below 30 you must drive like a gay. Mine stays around the 32 mark, but I only travel a fairly short distance to work.
And if youve not seen 15.5mpg youve never spent a tank of fuel at Spa. LOL
:D
I never noticed any difference, although y0z reckons my 182 is worse than his Cup ever was, but then he does lots of motorway driving where I drive into the City each day.
I average 30 - 32mpg most the time.
Yup, September 2002 onwards had ESP.
Heres a link to the letter from Renault about claiming the 3rd year. http://www.leemather.plus.com/stuff/rw.jpgLink
I asked the other day about trading mine in against another but the deals just arent as good at the moment. If they offer 30% again any time in the new year I might swap again.
