However it goes in there has to be a wire between the dash and the laser detector and the craddle to where ever you decide connect them up...
I dont know anyone who has taken the dash top off to install one.
Just run the wires under the dash. I used some of those sticky plastic pads which you can then run a cable tie through. All very neat and out the way.
Same as mine. No cables in sight anywhere, and far easier and less risky than removing the dash. Bearing in mind I dont keep cars long I like to be able to get things out easily enough.
All it takes is a trip and youve snapped the dash top.
Dunno about the ages, Im too old to remember.

I also had 2 Renault Espace, an Audi 80...
You should see some of them round by me. Theres a dark blue one with silver trim and massive white numbers on the side, and Renault stickers plastered all over it. Subtle they certainly arent.
Theres a place by me that sells lots of Clios like that: http://www.welcomecars.co.uk/welcomecar.htmhttp://www.welcomecars.co.uk/welcomecar.htm They are everywhere.
If you have one, and it works it will light up when you turn the ignition on. I think it was a bit hit and miss on the Mk1 172 as to whether you had one or not.
Its really easy to install in the Clio, what with trim practically falling off. ;)
I really need to hardwire mine as its currently plugged into the fag lighter.
A couple of pics of how I had my b2 in the 172.

You may be better off with the Original unit as that way you can put the GPS Antena in the back near a side window. It may struggle to get a lock through the windscreen due to the fancy coating. You could put it by the gap in the screen but Im sure you would rather have it within reach.
If it was factory fitted then you will most likely have to remove the top of the dashboard. I couldnt get mine out of the 172 without doing that so I left it.
No, its DS-2s that use strips in the road. There is a box at the side of the road that the dibble can plug his gear into. They have some near Banbury which flash up to slow down on boards, these are harmless but PC McGarry can connect his kit to these and its then a working speed trap.
Not good.
Weve not got any of those around here yet, instead we have stupid amounts of Gatsos.
While were on about speed cameras I feel a rant coming on, and not my usual one about the f*****g Welsh Police. ;)
On my drive to and from work I pass through 17 cameras. Thats a 40 mile...
There is a much more obvious induction whistle on the 182 over the 172.
Theres also a lot more noise from the exhaust underneath the car than the 172 had.
