Not true. Most Ph2 172's and 182's use the ABS for the speedo. Can fit whatever box you want to 'em, fit and go. I've got a box in the shed, if you need one matey..

Use an old speedo sensor, if you want to do it properly. Otherwise, a bit of black tape covering it would do. Just to stop muck getting in.

Semi-synthetic will be fine, mate. As for the noise- let someone who knows the cars have a listen. I've found that most I've heard /owned don't sound smooth. What's the noise like? Ticky, rattly, knocking, lumpy?

This thread is hurting my head. As said- buy parts from a car breaking. Bolt them on yourself. Shouldn't cost you more than £200.

If he pays someone to do it, agreed. If it was me, find someone off here local who can fit it all if you're not able. Bumper- £80-100 Bonnet- £80 Light- £50 Grille- £30-40 Thinking about it, if you want to sell it, i'll give you £700. (;

If you're going to bother, do a 172 conversion. If not, get it fixed. It'll be much cheaper in the long run.

It's an easy one to sort. They've probably not reconnected it. As said, if you need to drive it, earth the subframe to the gearbox/engine and it'll be fine.
