Clutch Release Bearing

  Fiesta ST-3
Well after the days and weeks of not knowing what was wrong with the car I now do.....

The clutch release bearing. Not only that but the garage that replaced the aux belt, didn't tighten it enough so some of the squeal was from that. I know have the car at a better garage.

So how much should I look to pay to have the clutch bearing replaced? Can they be bought as a single item? And where would be the cheapest place to get one?

Thanks to all who gave their suggested diagnostics on my other thread.

Clutch release bearing itself costs next to nothing. Gearbox needs removing to fit it though, so mostly labour.

While it's out, change the clutch too. Valeo kit is about £100 from GSF/Euro Car parts.

Yep release bearing is fairly cheap, but it's worth changing the kit as mentioned.

about 7 hours for labour IIRC.

Release bearing is about £18 from memory

Pointless to not replace the whole clutch while you're in there as it's a labour intensive job

Nope. Wear and tear. It does come as part of the kit.. worth mentioning that there's no real rush to change it. I had mine go on my Ph1. Drove it for 4k with the bearing making funny noises, lol.

ive got a feeling mines on its way out.

Like a whining noise when the cluch is depressed and the car is moving?
