There's your problem, 172's never came ouf of the factory with 172ps/bhp.
Most in reality will struggle to make 160bhp, standard.
On it's own, a panel filter will do next to nothing. Couple it with a decent exhaust, matched inlets and remap and you should be pushing 170-175bhp..
PMSL. Oil's oil.
As long as it keeps the engine lubricated, and providing it's changed regularly, I'd bet my life you wouldn't notice the difference between Halfords, Motul, Mobil or any other oil manufacturer.
Yep.
Jack the track rod end up from underneath or it'll just spin. 13mm socket, and the nut will come off.
Then, t**t the thing out. It's best to put the nut on about 4 threads just incase you damage the TRE.
If you want a cheap RS, get a decent Ph1. If you've got more cash to play with, get a Trophy.

Support engine from underneath with jack and wood. (There is a lower gearbox mount which should stop it hitting the deck, but you can't be too careful).
Remove battery and airbox.
Remove the whole mount, which is bolted to the top of the box, and the car about three bolts to...
PM Rob. He always seems eager to help people out with things like this. Might do it for a beer or two..
If not, punt round the '25 and I'll do it for a beer.
You just have to use a shitload.
Most of my old exhausts have looked like a plasterer's been juggling under the car, but never had an exhaust blow, lol.
