    I totally get what you mean, sickens you to think its being ragged and abused or written off. If I had more storage space I wouldn't have sold my Saxo, had a fair bit done to it aswell (engine wise) . Would have kept it for a permanent track car then.

    Properly nice car that is, would be nice to have something a little different. Surprised on the insurance to be fair, regardless of where i lived my insurance was always a rip off as age was a big factor. Only after being 24 and 7years NCB im paying a lowly £690 for the 182 lol.

    I had the same issue with my old beloved Citroen Saxo, its now Sorn apparently. The only way you will know all the details would be to HPI check your old reg, that would tell you if its a write off or scrapped, but its will cost you to find out ;).

    If its on its way out then it will start crunching on downshifts. If its really bad the gear changes will be crunchy on upshifts aswell as the synchros fail on them (3rd gear iirc)

    You need to check the timing as well as if its out by even just a tooth for some unknown reason,it will still run like a dog. Also is the EML on? get it code read either way.

    What makes you think it the loom at fault? If you changed the motor already. I assume you have checked it has a earth and live feed to your motor which is why you changed the motor first.

    Red or yellow oil light? (yellow being level and red being pressure).     Lol, check the turbo for play in the shaft first mate (before spending £££). If its free from play and the turbine looks in good shape then it may not be that. 99.9% of knackered turbos will have huge play in the shaft and can be easily checked.

    Also theres a chance theres a second fault, stalling on VW/Audi is normally caused by a faulty throttle body unit, also very common but this should produce a fault code.

    Turbo doesn't need to be boosting, if the shaft bearing seals have gone then it will leak oil into the intake even on idle. Over fuelling on a diesel normally creates a pale blue-ish smoke, not white.

    Agree with Dan@SJM tbh, if its pluming white smoke and down on power/spluttering id be checking the turbo, remove the turbo intake pipe and (with the engine off) check for excessive play in the turbine/bearing/shaft.     I like it on mine, sounds better (if you like it loud) don't know about power gains but freed up the revs somewhat. Anything that helps the engine get more air in/out will normally give you some sort of gain, even if its only a small one.
