Nope, exactly the same chassis. Standard 182 is different, the cup packed cars have different hubs. I'd imagine a set of 2nd hand 172 hubs would be fairly cheap, couldn't be sure though.
I think a 197cup in alien green would look fantastic. The 200 looks like the special needs offspring of the Rsport range. No idea how they dropped the ball so badly.
Why are the rear badges different colours? Seems a bit confused, the front diamonds a different colour to the rear, the bullets don't match the yellow theme:S. If it was all done, would look great, as it is they look half finished.
I've owned both. On a B-road, take an average corner, badly surfaced (the norm in the uk). You can carry 10mph more through a corner in the Trophy than you can in the 182cup. On track the difference is negligible, as the surface is smooth.
On the north wales run last year, I was running up front...
My point is, why would they spend all that cash just to get 500 sales? If it were a gimmick, purely to get cash, they could of just stuck on ordinary coilovers, would of been a lot cheaper.
No offence to anyone, but I find it amazing that people that have never owned the car seem to think they...
Suppose it depends how much power you're after. If 215bhp is enough, when it's available, the super 2000 manifold and cams will (IIRC) be the cheapest way of getting there.
Of the 2 you've mentioned, the supercharger should give more progressive power delivery, but worse mpg.
Think of it this way. Would Renault of spent the cash, developing the Trophy, throwing more expensive parts at it (Seats, Wheels, Dampers) for a max 550 sales? And would the motoring press have raved over a gimmick?
Roys got it, thicker piston rod, can't remember the benefit though. If you have a thicker rod, you either need a bigger shock or a remote reservoir to hold the required fluid.
As it was explained to me, the purpose of the reservoir design was nothing to do with heat dissipation. I've got an article from renaultsport somewhere, I'll try and find it.
