Hope it was a good one. Queue to get in was doing my nut in so went for a drive instead. Turned out to be quite a pleasent evening.

He said the bonnet happened near his house up here. As far as I know, the only track stuff it's done since I sold it is a few 1/4 mile days at York.

The lad I Bought it off said he had a rr print for 180bhp but I think that's a tad optimstic!

Yeah mate, TBH the VR just wasnt what I thought it would be in the end but I still enjoyed owning it.

Thats whats I thought mate. I used to love washing the golf and looking at it but to drive it didnt excite me in the corners. From my experience (which it limited) ive found the VW scene to be more about show and less about go which is not really what im into.

I think the zorstec one will probably be alright without the decat.

The flat spot mate but the sound was mint. RS tuning can sort it out now so no probs.

Has it still got the zorstec system on (less the decat of course!)?

The bottom half of the dash has gone and the rear windows are plastic. The floor needs attention. Im planning on rattle canning the floors.

It was a car plus cash kinda deal so didnt work out that bad in the end. I lost a bit of money but then again........I always do!

Yeah, its a lot more of a drivers car then the golf.

I used to own this car around 8 months ago but sold it as I just fancied a change but have always missed it since I sold it. The car is a S1 Rallye with 1.6 16V engine from a 106 gti. I kept in touch with the lad who owned it and we came to a bit of a deal with my Golf and I now have it back...

My 197 was decatted and sounded mint but do not under estimate the decat issue mate. It ruined the drive on mine and IMO you would need to get it remapped.

Looks a bit too 'american' for my tastes.

I like those wheels. All the chavs had them back in the day.
