how the fan goes on a 1.8 16v Mk1 Clio! I just bought one thats had a new engine, and they didnt put the fan on for some reason, had a quick look but cant see any mounting points!

Does sound like a wheel bearing, and for the wheel to actually be touching a part of the car, it must be knackered bad. Easiest way to check is jack car up and see if you can move the wheel in a way which it shouldnt be moved ie. hands at 12 and 6oclock and try and push and pull it away from you...

Well i bought it, got it for £300 as its stuck in 3rd. Im sure its not a clutch problem, the gearstick will move into other gears, but the actual box is still in 3rd, which makes me think its a linkage problem. Also, the fan is in the boot lol, and i had a quick look but couldnt see and fixings...
