people break 16v clios all the time. The best forum too try for parts is Clio16valver.co.uk or just get one from ebay.
Also, ask renault about the part yourself, don't take someone elses word for it

What tweaking is this!
About all I can think of is tweaking the TPS, new lambda (worked wonders on mine), good CAF setup, off the shelf EPROM chips - otherwise it's internal work....

The shafts are a pain mate, if anything goes it's a whole new shaft. This means if a gaitor goes, it's a new shaft. If a CV goes, it's a new shaft also.
Renault have supposedly revised the 1*2 shafts and made the circlips better, see if you can get a quote from your local...

check gear box oil. Before you set off in the morning let the engine idle for a few seconds and move the gear lever side to side to distribute oil around the box.
With reference to prepreg carbon manufacture:
Does the autoclave supply the 1bar (or so) pressure required when curing or is that supplied by the vacuum bagging around the part?
