Shame they didnt go for an uprated version of the 1.2 TCE or a 1.4 TCE. Would have been so much easier to tune.
lambda is another one to look at. It may be running really rich. You can find out if it's the lambda by umplugging it and seeing if it runs better on the backup map.
If it's that severe I'd say it's a sparking poorly.
New Distributor cap and rotor arm may solve. May need new coil pack (always common on later MK2s)
Mileage and age?
SAME CLUTCH! 85k!
are those ALL motorway miles. That is the only way that clutch would go that long.
RS clutches are 40-60k normally.
Almost certain the seal has gone and the clutch is now covered in Gbox oil. New clutch, New seals (cheap) and a fair amount of labour as Gbox needs to come off.
