Scoff runs a VAG gearbox on his 500+bhp 172 engined Renault5, so that could be worth a look. Also worth speaking to Fred as he was doing this at one point.
300bhp clio would be immense, I just dont think the full meggy front end sounds like a sensible way to go. Sure use the engine, but not the suspension, and probably not the gearbox either.
Anything can be done with enough money, your idea would need lots of it. IMO better off spending it on something else. Supercharge + coilovers for example
Celtic Tuning or Angel Tuning both come to you to do it, should be reet. Will come back out and put map back on if dealer wipes it aswell, and will remove it for you etc etc as much as needed.
Your parents insurers should therefore pay for the hire car, other side has no obligation to pay for it, regardless of what options your parents took on their insurance.

Chipping a car is a term used to refer to adding a piggy back ECU OR replacing part of the original ECU with a new 'chip', hence chipping.
Remapping is altering the map on the car, so it quite possibly has had both.
Oh and boost valve is more than likely an FSE Power Boost Valve...
What you need to do is find out where he got the 82db figure from, is that stationary or drive by, and at what engine speed?
Basically if your V5 doesnt state any of the above, then they have to compare it to a standard vehicle in good coniditon for the age, in other words, they wont be able...
There is no grey area. Legally it cannot be louder than standard, however only in the last few years have manufacturers had to decalre on the V5 the standard volume of the exhaust, so an older car, its almost impossible to prove.
