This! That will do the grand scheme of naff all in a crash. The belts are meant to go over that bar and then down to eyebolt mounts in the floor. It's used to get the belts to an acceptable angle as too much downward angle will crush your spine.

The loop does have a bit of movement naturally for it to locate in the latch on the boot door, so the adjustment screw won't change that. If the boot door doesn't move when you give it a pull whilst it's closed, then I can't see how its bringing the door open warning on.
