Get a stiff paint brush and some contact cleaner on the light connectors, don't use a wire brush unless u disconnect the battery, I give the contacts a bit of a tweak usually to make them tighter.

I have some winter run around tyres in the same if not worse state, lots of tread left though, I'm going to say to you what my mind is telling me, bin them!!

Today's progress, turbo core removed to get to studs and nuts... New studs, Heico washers and lock nuts fitted, new gaskets on too... Hellish tight clearence.... And all back on with some new coolent a pipes... Tomorrow the new mount is coming and fingers crossed mate is better to tig up my...

Cheers mate, was going to do the mani to turbo studs in place but there is no way that was going to happen, ludicrous design...

With a bad back I just removed the turbo and manifold to replace all the studs, nuts, gaskets and put Heico locking-lock washers on, knew from the start this was going to be massively gay to do but needs to be done... Had to remove all my lovely pipe work and fixings to get at it. Once it was...

I never use gaskets when replacing turbo's on anything else, most manufacturers are face fit... The turbo and manifold came from ED pre assembled so didn't touch it

So next up on the ideas front is getting my inlet manifold and downpipe ceramic coated, stop so much heat soaking into the manifold and stop so much heat out of the exhaust.... The guys at performance1coatings.com have given me a price and am considering it, why not!

Mine has never knocked and had been perfect up till now, think I'm going to persevere with what I have got, I know it fits well and if it was properly strengthened I'll be happy! Bit of a pain in the arse though

@Andyrg@ ClioTurbo has contacted me about a downpipe he uses, may be an option, don't really want to be taking it off again anytime soon

Did you have yours braced from the back of the block to the downpipe as an OE vehicle would have? Mine dropped for the first week until I braced it and that made it perfect, well until this crack, still didn't move though :) Ah okay so mine is an updated version of yours and was told yesterday...

Not sure on that one, I have seen it used a lot though, pretty sure ED get them made by a supplier they have heard of them cracking but put it down to solid engine mounts and no support bracket, when I said I had standard mounts (apart from dog bone) and a brace he was surprised too! Tbf it has...

Thanks mate, yeah I'll get it sorted. As I said it's more annoying considering the belt and braces approach I had to it. Probably would of snapped right off without any bracing! I was always in two minds to SC or turbo, I like my AC though ;)

Car is currently sat on the ramp in my workshop without an exhaust on and turbo downpipe removed, drove it in yesterday to replace the studs and nuts that hold the downpipe connector on and turbo on to the manifold, have had to re tighten them twice now, once after the ring trip and again a few...

I'd say you need a thicker washer, that isn't right!

That axle should flop around fairly easily mate!

Still haven't looked at mine, pretty sure I kept the upper rubber and 'skat' the lower one so the top one still buffers a bit instead of knocking.... I could be fully talking shite though, will check for sure later!
