Hahah
a) Yours is a LOT better on fuel than I thought it would be
b) Mines not so good
c) I need to stop winging that mines too crap on fuel to take on a euro trip and get it done! :D Your thread has made me realise I need to man up ;)
Utterly jealous.
I'm so gutted my euro trip hasn't come off this year - next year I'm all over LM and a big road trip afterwards!
That fuel economy though - WOW. I'd get 10mpg more in the Clio lol
God knows what's going on with this but there's a group of people from facebook having a meet in the overspill car park (WF10 5HW) at Xscape
12pm start - there's going to be photography coverage etc... so I suggest we tag onto that.
I'll be there :)
It's fairly standard from what I've seen of other ITB'd engines running 90mm trumpets
I'm looking forward to getting it back on the rollers with the 120's see what difference it's made
He's back!!! haha
For how long this time..
That was my point with valves - £500 aint worth it to protect an engine you can replace for £300 IMHO
And yeah valves are a weak point, and so are rod bolts blah blah - but my ITB'd engine has been hooning around tracks for 2 years at 130k...
That's pretty much what Chip and others will tell you about the RS2 as well
It has such a flat torque curve if you put your foot down in any gear it just goes - whereas with ITB's obviously you get more power and torque top end so you have to thrash them a bit more.
There's no need to...
Aye good stuff - 0% copper so doesn't kill your abs and not petroleum based :)
You can get it from ECP

Yup
It's a really really old mechanics trick from the days of mk1 escorts etc...
One of my mates recently came off track saying his brakes didn't work and smoke pooring off one - when we checked the mechanic had put copper grease on the pads - it had melted and splattered all over the...
Also copper grease is petroleum based - rubber piston seals corrode when they get petroleum based grease on them - so greasing the back of your pads is more likely to destroy the dust seals than it is to stop any "squeaking"
If you have to use anything I'd suggest a high temp silicon grease but...
Exactly - so why post saying it wasn't relevant when the comment about it killing ABS was aimed at the forum - just because you don't have it on your car doesn't mean everyone in the world doesn't.
Weirdo.
On the back of the pads does NOTHING - the piston pushes the pad at 90 degrees - there's nothing to slide.
On the edge where it hits the sliders is the only arguable place to use it but to build up rust that would resist the pushing force of a caliper piston you'd have to not use the car for 3...
NEVER EVER put copper grease on brake components
It's a very very old fashioned thing that some people think stops them squeeking
Copper grease when it gets hot in brakes turns to liquid and runs onto the pads and contaminates them
There's no need at all on modern calipers/pads
If you'd answered what ECU it was we could have helped more LOL
If it's omex then part of the loom needs splicing into the standard crank sensor or you don't get a feed
Wow didn't think you'd go that far below the belt straight off haha ;)
I've spent so much on mine I can't afford Rockingham - which makes me a massive fail artist
He's already stated it's not a road car and everything just added is same as what I've said lol
He doesn't want to sell the clio for evo etc... first thing I suggested
Harbinger - no it's not with forged internals as you don't need them at 230bhp
It can be done yes - but your reasoning for it is utterly wrong
Turbo'ing a 172 costs £3k - that's a DIY kit with all the stuff you need to map it to 230bhp. You can do it a lot cheaper if you don't mind shopping around and using some 2nd hand bits too.
By the time you've bought a 1.8t 20v lump...
Yeah you're a bit screwed if you're on the 182 cup hole spacing.
I would honestly get hold of a set of 172 cup hubs cheap and try fitting one on - I'm 99% sure they'll fit straight on and then you can use any off the shelf coilovers.
You're engine will be fine with either - it's just down...
