If its under a warranty, and its faulty, speak to renault uk. Sounds like the franchised dealer is trying to pull a fast one mate. I had this, spoke to ren customer services and the dealer got told off, and they paid for all the work.

Are they making you pay for the ecu, or is it included in the warranty??

The diesels you've listed wont be much better for fuel economy than a clio... do the sums, wont save as much as you think, especially once you've sold yours and bought a new car. Get a little diesel if you want to make savings you'll notice. Edit - just seen sebs post above.

The harness when tense will pull the bench up constantly mate.
